I was happy to see him given another chance on the basis that no-one in their right mind would buy out his contract so we might as well use him if available. Don't mind the show pony express riding into town for a farewell appearance in the cup before buggering off to China. Absolutely astoundingly good news, if it's true.

Can't see him making a success of China, his boredom threshold will be well and truly breached by Easter.

Thats the problem with the old rumour mill on twitster - the guy pops out for a chinese for dinner and all of a sudden he's moving to China.

A 100% factual story that tells us virtually nothing. Is there anything on Samrit's fb page?

Wednesday fan here, personally think you'd be silly not to take another look at him.

When he first signed I wasn't best pleased because I thought he was a waste of talent, trouble maker, not what we needed. But he pleasantly surprised all of us I think and a bit sad to see him leave (don't think he'll come back to Hillsborough regardless of his future at Reading).

Was clearly a class above everyone else, touch, vision, balance, quick feet- was great to watch at times. Had his faults with trying to do a bit too much, end product not always there- although his game improved a lot towards the end of his loan spell he was consistently putting in good crosses and nice through balls if only we had someone to get on the bleeding end of them. Looking at his body language on Boxing Day it was as if it hit home to him that he should not be playing at this level, he's better than this and it's a shame his career has gone the way it has.

Also his workrate was superb for us, tracking back and covering ground. Therefore you've got a talent on your hands and we managed to get something out of him and it's a shame for us because he was beginning to look really sharp. I wouldn't write him off, he's a top class talent who for us looked as if he was starting to get his arse into gear.

Many thanks for an unbiased, objective and up to date view on Drenthe.

To be honest, I was firmly in the "No way back" camp, but given that we have a new Manager and that Drenthe appears to have a new and improved attitude, as long as we are paying his wages maybe it isn't a daft idea to see if he can do it for us.

Sadly, he will epitomise the mis-management (at the highest levels) of the club and for that reason may well never win over the vast majority of the Reading fans regardless of performances.

To my mind I'd like to see him back here for the last 6 months as a final chance. Steve Clarke has worked with top world class talent at Liverpool and Chelsea so if he can't get the best out of him consistently then no-one ever will.

Bench at Huddersfield perhaps?

The post on the official site was one the most beautifully crafted pieces of writing I have seen on a football website.

An informative piece that had the reader losing all self control before sobbing uncontrollably on all fours outside the ticket office, demanding the the return of this maverick showman.

Expect a plethora of sports writers awards for this cutting edge piece that tested every boundary of journalistic excellence.

Will we soon be floating on the hedonistic skills of Drenthe the King, or will he drift away on his magic carpet to the encapsulated masses of the Orient (not Leyton)?

Go to the official site a http://www.readingfc.co.uk to follow this post modern event to its dramatic climax.

Fair do's, but he was out with family down here last night on some kind of party bus. He must have traveled up separately.

Inference from the coverage on Berks is that Drenthe would be leaving the club in the next week or so, possibly a loan to China....

Whether that's true or not, we shall see....

I believe there was a word after 'leaving', which they seemed to have missed off. Anyway, I wouldn't believe anything until it's confirmed. Remember when everyone thought he was off to Brazil because he put a picture from the Brazilian tourism website on his instagram? Guy's in a world of his own.

The word after 'leaving' is NSFW so they cut it off.
