SSC to the end of the season to try and sort us out - don't think he would want a long-term position again - but whatever happened, he'd still be a God in my eyes - so he's not lost anything and, tbh, couldn't do much worse than Adkins and Clarke have - so it's a win/win for everyone. He gets us back to the Premier League and big money, he's still a hero, we can afford someone who is a proven Premier League manager to keep us up there. 8)

Viveash for me. Up and coming, links to the club, good bloke.

Too many others are rejects (Sherwood), failures (Moyes) or weirdoes (Pearson).

Much as I'm not a fan of clubs chopping and changing manager all the time on this occasion I don't think they had much choice and I applaud their decisiveness. Howe fired a warning shot at Clarke a few weeks back, basically made it obvious he'd get binned at some point.

Pearson? No, a psycho

Coppell? No, he already had a season too long

Don't have a good suggestion tbh

Coppell, Dillon, Downes and Bibbo would be perfect.

Never been much of a fan of Clarke so not unhappy to see him go.

He won me over for that all too brief spell earlier this season when EVERYTHING (except 'keeping) seemed to click into place - but overall a really shite record.

At least he didn't indulge in double-talk cliche- speak in interviews. Much.

Pearson.

Totally agree Mags, saved me rambling on saying much the same. He was a deadman walking.

Next? Purely because the club needs some stability and someone with a real affinity with the club I would be tempted to take a bit of a punt on Parky. That's the heart ruling the head though.

All hail Agent Al-Habsi.

If it weren't for him last night, he'd still be in charge.

I thought Brian was harshly done by and that perhaps Rodgers was sacked too soon. I generally think managers are not given enough time.

BUT on this occasion this is the right decision. Clarke showed he was not committed to the club when he went to see Fulham and he was dead man walking from then on as it shone a huge light on his frankly very poor record at RFC.

Good riddance in my opinion. Bring on Pearson if we can get him. I heard one of the Leicester players talking really highly of him recently.

Said on the other thread, of all managers unemployed at the moment, it has to be worth having a conversation with Moyes. He's said that Leeds would interest him, bigger club but in same division - so who knows.

Pearson - knows how to get promoted but just not sure about him

Rodgers - No chance, think we have a squad better suited to his way of playing now, so a return could work.

Redknapp - No thanks

Sherwood - See Redknapp

Can't think of any other managers who are available, so we may have to make an approach for a young up and coming manager like Edinburgh.

Mostly agree, though with the lack of options available I'd risk Coppell for nostalgia. He did a good job in a second spell at Palace didn't he?

Mind you, I'm not sure our squad is best set up for winger heavy 4-4-2.

Sherwood? No. What has he done, really, that is any good with a team in our position?
Pearson? No, he's a dickhead.
Coppell? Possibly, but maybe only for the rest of the season. I think he'd shy away from a longer stint.
Moyes? I think we'd be lucky to get him. Managed an Everton team on a smaller budget, did well at Preston prior to that, and at Man U, he had to follow Fergie - any manager in that position would have struggled to emulate the prior success.

Whatever, I'm just glad Clarke has gone. Never warmed to him, and he has had a fairly good squad misfiring since being appointed. He may be a very good coach, an excellent number 2, but I don't think he is a manager.

Took over a team that were Champions. Something a fortune, got it totally wrong. Pants. (not that I didn't enjoy seeing the Great Satan miss out on the Champions League and fail miserably at home, but it's wasn't a ringing endorsement of his managerial skills).

Real Sociedad. Pants.

He will, I'm sure, rebuild his career somewhere. Just not here.

Moyes would be lovely but not particularly realistic. Sky Bet Odds:

Nigel Pearson 10/11
Gary Rowett 5/1
Martin Kuhl 8/1
Gary Bowyer 8/1
Phil Parkinson 8/1
Tim Sherwood 12/1
Brian McDermott 12/1
Steve Coppell 16/1
Kevin Keen 16/1
Oscar Garcia 20/1
Paul Tisdale 20/1
Alex McLeish 20/1
Malky Mackay 20/1
Slavisa Jokanovic 20/1
David Moyes 20/1
Gus Poyet 20/1
Sean O'Driscoll 20/1
Neil Warnock 20/1
Chris Powell 25/1
Harry Redknapp 25/1
Uwe Rosler 25/1
Alan Curbishley 33/1
Stuart Gray 33/1
Brendan Rodgers 33/1
Ian Holloway 33/1
Gary McAllister 33/1
Nigel Adkins 33/1
Billy Mckinley 33/1
Paul Dickov 33/1
Alan Stubbs 40/1

To be fair, he's been sacked from 50% of his jobs for not doing well enough.

Moyes did an OUTSTANDING job with Everton. He was always going to fail at United. He'd be a superb capture here, but we can't afford someone like him and I can't see the need for him to drop a level either.

Pearson for me!
