NewCorkSeth The heat map, I believe, is constructed from where the players touch the ball meaning that the generally wide positioning you see with Aluko and McCleary from the last game tells a false story. They were playing central without a doubt but moved out to the flanks to receive passes when we were bringing the ball out of defence. During our periods of sustained possession they were nowhere to be seen on the wings.

Have you looked at the heat map?

Yes? Why do you ask?

And you thought it made them look like had generally wide positioning!?

genome Jaakkola, Yiadom, Moore, Ilori, Gunter, Bacuna, Rinomhota, Kelly, Swift, Meite, Loader.

Like the look of that a lot

Er... WTAF is that? 4 central midfielders...

I like Clement, but that XI looks like he's having a mental breakdown when looking at shape and changes.

-------------Jaakkola
Yiadom--Moore--Ilori--Gunter
-------------Bacuna
----------Kelly-----Rinomhota
----------------Swift
---------Meite-----Loader
4-1-2-1-2 a football manager favorite.

Um. Your reading comprehension needs work there Ian. I said it paints a false story. The highest concentration of "heat" for both of them was on the wings in our own half.

Ask me what I mean next time if I haven't made it clear instead of being a smarmy prick.

Personally, I think you're the one who's failing to understand. I took one look at that heat map and thought... "wow, they didn't play very wide, did they"

You've not used Smarmy correctly btw.

Of Alukos 37 touches 17 were on the wing. Of McClearys 45 touches 22 were on the wing. That's almost half their touches for the entire game on the wing. So I stand by my "generally wide positioning" comment.

You've not used capitalisation correctly btw.

Quite like it. Gives the option to bring on the wide men later in the game

Main thing is Aluko isn’t playing which is sadly the first thing I looked for

I got an erection seeing a team sheet for the first time in a long time. Doomed to fail because I love it too much.

Interesting line up. We’ve gone narrow. Fingers crossed.

Sky seem to be writing us off already.

Dave Edwards sounding desperately optimistic.

Thanks. Something I don't think we've played since McDermott last left? It's not exactly consistent with what we've been doing under Clement (so much the better you may say). Just feels like it's rather out of left field to me.

Sky's commentators do talk shit don't think. Leeds v Reading is a very handy warm up for the Spurs v Arsenal derby.

SKY (LOL) have it as the usual 4-3-3 with Swift left.

And Sky look to have it right.

It could indeed end up more as a 4-5-1 (which is really just a more defensive 4-3-3), with loader and one of swift/bacuna out wide.

The diamond with no real wide midfield players leaves the full backs exposed against a team which attack from wide positions (Leeds are 6th for attacks from the wings vs the centre)
