Next up
Tottenham (H) Sunday 12th November: Airs LIVE on Setanta Sports Channel from 8:30 AM Eastern; repeats from 7:00 PM Sunday evening (not 8:00 as originally reported by Setanta) and again from 8:45 AM Monday, 5:00 PM Tuesday and 1:00 AM Wednesday, all times Eastern and on Setanta. Prem highlights show runs tonite after the repeat broadcast of today's match.

Setanta is a satellite channel; basic or even expanded cable does not carry it. If you're a native, an expat or a visitor --and unless you're a DirecTV subscriber-- it is a virtual certainty that you'll have to leave the house/hotel room in order to see the Tottenham game.

Any football pub worthy of the name is subscribed to DirecTV and, with it, Setanta. If you need to find a place, check with me --and be advised that kickoff time is 8:30 AM in New York, 7:30 in Chicago, 6:30 in Denver and 5:30 in California. Those who have a local may want to phone ahead and make sure that doors will be open.

Extended highlights of the Tottenham match will air on the Premier League Review Show, airtimes 8:00 PM Sunday; 5:00 AM and 6:00 PM Monday; 5:00 AM Thursday; and 4:00 AM and 3:00 PM Friday --all times Eastern on FSC

Looking ahead
Charlton (H) Saturday 18th November: No broadcasts scheduled for North American TV; extended highlights to air first-time on the Premier League Review Show from 8:00 PM Eastern on Sunday the 19th on FSC, with additional airtimes to be announced

The subsequent three matches --Fulham (A), Bolton (H) and Newcastle (A)-- are scheduled to air live in the States on FSC

Looking ahead

Last chance to see/record Charlton highlights on Premier League Review Show at 3:00 PM Eastern on Friday on FSC

Next up
Fulham (A) Saturday 25th November: Airs LIVE on FSC from 10:00 AM Eastern and repeats same-day from 8:00 PM, again from 4:00 AM Sunday and once more from 1:00 PM on Tuesday, all times Eastern and on FSC

The week's highlights air on the Premier League Review Show, airtimes Sunday from 11:30 PM; Monday from 5:00 AM and 5:00 PM; and Friday from 4:00 AM --all times Eastern and on FSC

The next two --Bolton (H) and Newcastle (A)-- also will air live on FSC. Please see first post in this thread if planning farther ahead.

Next two fly at us in a hurry...

Next up
Bolton (H) Saturday 2nd December: Airs LIVE on FSC from 10:00 AM Eastern and again from 2:00 AM Sunday and 1:00 PM Tuesday. Extended highlights to air on the Premier League Review Show first time from 8:00 PM Sunday; also airing from 5:00 AM and 6:00 PM Monday; 5:00 AM Thursday and 3:00 PM Friday --all times Eastern and on FSC

After that
Newcastle (A) Wednesday 6th December: Airs LIVE on FSC from 3:00 PM Eastern and again same-day from 8:00 PM Eastern; no additional airings, so be in front of a TV or set the recorder

Looking ahead
It now appears that there will not be any airings of Watford (A) in the U.S., but Blackburn (H) the week after is scheduled to air on same-day delay.

FSC posted their January schedule today, and no RFC League matches during that month will air on FSC. Setanta select first, and they may have jumped on the Reading bandwagon --but we won't find out about individual games for about 10 to 14 days in advance of each. Based on the day and time of the fixture, it's safe to say that Everton (A) most likely will air live on Setanta on Sunday 14th January, and of course we don't know anything about the FA Cup yet.

Please see first post in this thread if planning beyond next week.

Last call y'all
The Bolton game airs once more on FSC from 1:00 PM Eastern on FSC on Tuesday. Extended highlights air on the Premier League Review Show from 6:00 PM Monday (today); 5:00 AM Thursday and 3:00 PM Friday --all times Eastern and on FSC

Next up
Newcastle (A) Wednesday 6th December: Airs LIVE on FSC from 3:00 PM Eastern and again same-day from 8:00 PM Eastern; no additional airings, so be in front of a TV or set the recorder

Saturday
The Watford game is not scheduled for U.S. broadcast. Extended highlights wll air first time on the Premier League Review Show on Sunday from 8:00 PM Eastern on FSC, with additional airtimes to be announced.

Please see first post in this thread if looking farther ahead.

For those who can bear to watch
Extended Watford highlights air once more on Premier League Review Show on Friday the 15th from 3:00 PM Eastern on FSC

Next up
Blackburn (H) Saturday 16th December: Airs first-time on same-day DELAY on FSC from 2:15 PM Eastern on Saturday and repeats from 3:00 PM Tuesday. Extended highlights to air on Premier League Review Show first-time from 8:00 PM Sunday, with repeat airtimes from 5:00 AM Monday, 1:00 PM Wednesday, and on Friday from 4:00 AM and again from 3:00 PM (times Eastern and on FSC)

Looking ahead
Everton (H) Saturday 23rd December: Will not air in the U.S. Extended highlights to air on Premier League Review Show from 8:00 PM on Sunday the 24th and again from 5:00 AM Christmas Monday (times Eastern and on FSC)

Chelsea (A) Tuesday 26th September: Airs LIVE from 8:00 AM Eastern on Setanta. For most, this means a trip down the pub --and it is strongly recommended that one check with the local before venturing down there at such an ungodly hour of a morning after Christmas. Repeats same-day from 6:30 PM Eastern, also on Setanta, with possible additional airtimes on Setanta yet to be announced; will not air on FSC

Please see first post in this thread if planning farther ahead --incomplete information available thru 10th February; a lean January looms

Unfinished business
Blackburn (H) Saturday 16th December: Repeats from 3:00 PM Tuesday. Extended highlights airing on Premier League Review Show from 1:00 PM Wednesday and on Friday from 4:00 AM and again from 3:00 PM (times Eastern and on FSC)

Next up
Everton (H) Saturday 23rd December: Will not air in the U.S. Extended highlights to air on Premier League Review Show first time from 8:00 PM on Sunday the 24th and again from 5:00 AM Christmas Monday and 5:00 AM Thursday (times Eastern and on FSC)

Looking ahead
Chelsea (A) Tuesday 26th September: Airs LIVE from 8:00 AM Eastern on Setanta. For most, this means a trip down the pub --and it is strongly recommended that one check with the local before venturing down there at such an ungodly hour of a morning after Christmas. Also airs on same-day DELAY from 6:30 PM Eastern, also on Setanta, and the ChelseaTV version of it airs from 6:30 PM Eastern on Friday 29th September on Setanta. In addition to that, the Sky Sports Fan Zone feed of the Boxing Day match airs on a delayed basis on FSC from 11:30 PM Eastern on Wednesday the 27th and again on Friday the 29th from 2:30 AM Eastern.

Man Utd (A) Saturday 30th December: Airs LIVE on Setanta from 10:00 AM Eastern and again same-day from 8:00 PM Eastern, also on Setanta. Extended match highlights to air on Premier League Review Show from 8:00 PM Sunday the 31st and again from 5:00 AM on Monday, times Eastern and on FSC

West Ham (H) Monday 1st January: Airs LIVE on Setanta Xtra (DirecTV Channel 670) from 10:00 AM Eastern, and although no same-day delayed telecasts has been announced as yet, I would guess that Setanta will air it again at dinnertime. Check with your local before heading down in any case

No word on the Burnley FA Cup Third Round tie. Please see first post in this thread if planning farther ahead.

RoyalChicagoFC No U.S. TV: 5 of 22

That statistic just seems so bizarre. I'm loving the exposure we are getting this side of the pond. (It helps that I have Setanta mind) - Feel free to visit NC on boxing day of you can find nowhere else to watch the game!

Also wanted to thank you for your weekly updates. Keep 'em coming.

Cheers and Happy Christmas.

A couple of typos above and recent additions/revisions to the schedules have made it necessary that I repeat myself a bit...

Tonite, Thursday 28th December
Chelsea (A) Tuesday 26th December: The Sky Sports Fan Zone feed of the Boxing Day match airs on FSC from 11:30 PM Eastern tonite, Thursday the 28th, and again on Saturday from 2:30 AM Eastern. I'll be staying up past my bedtime for this one

Next up
Man Utd (A) Saturday 30th December: Airs LIVE on Setanta from 10:00 AM Eastern and again same-day from 8:00 PM Eastern, also on Setanta. The MUTV feed of the match airs on delay from 12:30 AM Eastern on 1st January and again from 12:30 PM on Tuesday the 2nd, times Eastern and on Setanta. Extended match highlights to air on Premier League Review Show from 8:00 PM Sunday 31st December and again from 5:00 AM on Monday, times Eastern and on FSC

New Year's Day
West Ham (H) Monday 1st January: Confusing Setanta listings suggest that the match will air LIVE on Setanta Xtra (DirecTV Channel 670) from 10:00 AM Eastern, and in any event it is scheduled to repeat same-day on Setanta from noon and again from 10:15 PM Eastern. Also repeats on Setanta from 5:30 AM Eastern on Tuesday the 2nd. Setanta matches mean a trip down the local for all but a fortunate few, and it is strongly recommended that one phone ahead before heading down (we've been screwed by Setanta's own inaccurate listings for its "Xtra" channel before --West Ham away, as a matter of fact). Again, phone first --if it's not on live, it's supposed to air on Setanta, delayed, right after the 3:00 GMT kickoffs go final in any case

Looks like the Burnley FA Cup tie won't air here at all, but the Everton away match on the 14th will, in all likelihood, air bright and early at your local on Setanta. Please see first post in this thread if planning farther into January.

According to my TiVo channel guide, the WHU game is live on 'regular Setanta' - channel 615. It's been wrong before tho'.

What is it with Setanta and its demonstrated inability to get our games with West Ham sorted beforehand?!? Crimony...

Not bad at all, this one, and in fact kinda boring if measured by the trainwreck factor.

In any case, step forward...John (or is it "Jon"?) Taylor!

Nope, but coming soon --like within days.

It's a stand-alone Sunday morning tilt (7:45 kickoff where I am, 8:45 in NYC), which marks it as a Setanta game, but for whatever reason this is yet to be confirmed in any official kind of way. Nevertheless, I'm confident in declaring, "See you down the pub!"

Chicago area (SOUTH) Pubs

by RFC_USA » 29 Dec 2006 19:48

THANK YOU very much for this update....now if I could only talk my wife into going for DirecTV, I'd be all set....

Do you have a list of pubs/bars/places where Setanta is available in southern Chicago? I live south of Kankakee.

Thanks again!

RFC_USA Do you have a list of pubs/bars/places where Setanta is available in southern Chicago? I live south of Kankakee.

I ran the 60901 ZIP code for Kank-O-Kee thru Setanta's venue finder and came up with this list, which as you'll see isn't of much use, as it's subscribed venues extending all the way into the Loop and River North --no help there.

Also, just because a place is subscribed to Setanta doesn't necessarily mean that it'll be open at the early-bird hours of Premier League kickoffs. A good rule of thumb is that if a place has DirecTV, it has the Setanta channels; if you're in tight with management or any of the staff of such a watering hole, you might ask if they've got TiVo and would be willing to record a given match for you and let you watch it at your leisure. This whole business is very much skewed in favor of city folk, no doubt.
