Avon Royal
brendywendy he said the club wasnt giving 100% to stay up
when what he meant the club hadnt spent £1000000

Incorrect.

how are u measuring our effort to be a big club?

brendywendy and what i am saying is that if we had spent 10000000 he would be completely happy with the effort the club is giving

Swing and a miss.

so if we'd spent 10000000 u wouldnt be happy? what would make u happy?

Royal Lady However, you appeared to get hold of the wrong end of the stick and Platypuss corrected you. Hey ho.

Spot on!

Brendy - just let it go. I apologise if my original post wasn't clear enough for you (or should that be 4u?), but most other people seem to have understood the point now - I don't really have to keep on making it simply for you to keep on missing it.

it was perfectly clear, i just disagree vehemently

is that ok 4 u

and mocking me for not wasting time spelling out FOR YOU?!!
my apologies

I think it's a fairly safe assumption that anyone who uses the term "fighting prowess" probably doesn't have any..........

Bowman's Quiver Do we play a weakened team in the Carling cup to minimise the risk of injuries to key players? Do we rest key players from games in the league where we in all likelyhood we don't have a prayer of winning; Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd?.

Well, some in here were predicting recently we will beat Arsenal. Not sure how much I like our chances if we field our reserves

Dunno if I like the idea of resting our key players against the best teams.
Would this be an admission/concession that maybe we do lack some quality and depth and that maybe we didn't do enough in the transfer window (which is basically what the 'doom and gloom mongers' have been saying)? 8)

I am playing Devil's advocate with that suggestion. I don't for a minute believe we should, or will, field an understrength team against the big guns but we wouldn't be the first to do so if we did.

' Trust Steve ', I think was the headline, could'nt agree more, virtually the same side from last term, except for the addition of 4 internationals, and Mr Sodje. No I would'nt be too concerned, sit back and enjoy the season. Go Hard or Go Home.

Some of you are forgetting that king Steve only signs one year contracts, if we get relegated he will consider that a failure..and he would most probably walk.

Fielding under strength teams against the big clubs is not the way to do things ... we must field our strongest team at all times and "get stuck in " that is the only way of finding out just how good we are, or can be.

"Rolling over" in awe of the big clubs before the games have even started is totally defeatist ... if we take that attitude then there's no point us being where we are today ...

It's just as likely that he will walk if we stay up.

Bluey addition of 4 internationals, and Mr Sodje.

So that would be five internationals, then?

For what it's worth a few of my thoughts.

1 We are in the top flight for the first time in our history.

2 This is the best Reading squad ever.

3 We have strengthend our squad with 5 international players.

4 We have won our only home game, deserved at least apoint against Villa and despite not playing well against wigan should've got a point.

5 We have had a better start than Wigan last year.

6 We should sell out every home league game.

7 We may not lose money for the first time in years. Ever ?

8 We will be financially secure for the next three years.

9 We were the best Championship side ever.

10 We have one of the best English managers and supportive Chairman in English football.

That said, over the last 5-6 years we have expected to win almost every game and have been disappointed when we haven't. That will not be the case this year.

It is likley that in terms of possesion we will be outplayed more often than not this year, but that is no guarantee of failure just look at Man City v Arsenal as an example.

Being honest I would've liked a target man as cover for the inevitable Kitson injuries, but other than that I am very happy with our squad.

I think we need to adjust our expectations a little, and enjoy the season come what may. :D
