DavidM62 Steve Coppell played for England (I even saw he once or twice) or doesn't that count ?

Is he currently playing for Reading? No

Was he a player at Reading whilst he received any of his caps? No.

Does he count? Quite clearly not to anyone with half a brain.

He'll be 28 after Euro 2008, so he'll still have two more years to play....whether he'll still be one of the best left backs in the country is another question.

Hardly, he sounded desperate and stupid. The topic was Englands poor performance and the idiot kept going on about Shorey.

But doesn't that describe the audience of 606 anyway?

It describes those that phone in.

I listen purely for the hilarious over reactions and the fountain of footballing knowledge that is Spoony.

Maybe a little early, but I just thought I'd resurrect this thread.

Big Ern
addsrfc i think sidwell will be the first to get a call up to the england squad , he is young and has alot of interest from other clubs , his progress in the premiership will be monitered quite a bit i think

Doubt he'll be a Reading FC player if/when he gets a call up, more likely a big team like Chelsea

Amongst the sheep Of our current crop of players the best chances are
Shorey
Sidwell
Kitson
Lita

But as mentioned they will have more chances if they move to a 'larger ' club or there is a spate of injuries and they are getting a rave review each week. As it is a problem position (left side) Shorey is brightest prospect IMHO.

Hope that I'm proved right on Friday. :P

Derbyshire Royal Not one of the current squad will ever get a call up to the england team. Not because they dont have the top flight ability (they dont) but until the move to a 'big' club they will never ever ever get selected.

I'll get my coat
