who are ya? Reading fans know how to make a joke old very quickly aswell, the divers chant now happening all the time someone hits the deck as one example.

It gets very predictable. I think its all the new generation plastics who are obviously confused about the ethics of chanting at football matches.
This is the Butlins generation who see scripted, audience participation, holiday camp shows as fun and want to bring it to the footbalL. Utter c*nters like Lovejoy and his fu*kin' 'easy' chant don't help either.

O'h well! We're still 9th and if that doesn't help console me, the thought that the Scorpions are on our side does.

Top Flight Actually this doesn't surprise me at all.............

I am pretty much of the opinion that we have the best support in the Premier League.

Some of the P*ss taken out of Chelsea and West Ham in recent weeks has been absolutely classic. Our fans are relentless. We take the P*ss constantly until eventually the opposition fans can't take any more and have to shout back.

RFC support is by far the cockiest and wittiest supporter base in the Premier League bar nobody.

United only seemed to have one song. RFC are just winding up from the first minute.

Even stood next to the Toon Ultras. The toon were silent for ages but eventually they couldn't take any more P*ss taking from the travelling Royals and had to stand up and be counted. We relentlessly take the P*ss until our opposition has to respond.

At Chelsea, the Royals were so cocky. At one point we had the audacity to tell them that we were gonna win 3-2. And if anyone was gonna win it 3-2 it probably would have been us as well.

RFC fans this season = Legendary

We are no more the quiet fans with an inferiority complex. Reading fans this season have been far superior in wit, cockiness, general banter than supporters of any other club. Maybe we have alot to be smiling about this year. No one has got anything on us. We are expected to lose at Chelsea because our team didn't cost £1Billion pounds to assemble. So we can take the P*ss till the cows come home.

Then you woke up.

That is by far the most arrogant and deluded post I've ever seen.

Has to be a WUM.

tip: Alad doesn't like it when anyone says anything bad about anything to do with Man U

Well maybe I was referring to Sheffield United and not Man Utd. Maybe Alad is being arrogant thinking that the word United is reserved only for those Mancs in red.

Not true, Liverpool have more wit than Reading fans by a long shot.

The average Reading fan thinks wit is chanting...

Where were you when you were sh1t
Easy easy easy
You're worse than Graham Poll
My garden shed is bigger then this
Divers Divers with gay actions
Etc.

Most sides sing we're gonna win 5-4 etc if they're 4 down, it's not wit, just taking the piss out of themselves.

The sad fact is every Reading song bar one or two are ones other clubs sing, except one word has been changed.

Well your not a Reading fan so I expect you to do us down..........

RFC ARE wittier, provide better banter and create a better football atmosphere than every other club in the Premier League.......

You only want to big up teams that don't sing like Liverpool and Man Utd because you support them!

The league table for fans behaviour proves the point because we are bottom of it. RFC fans interpret that one way, Alad wants to interpret that in a more negative way towards RFC fans.........

All it really shows is that we're a partisan crowd that give our opponents a hard time.

Can't complain about that really!

If you're not then you'd have seen the recent study that measured sound levels at every clubs first five home games. Newcastle were top, Liverpool second and United third.

I can see the news headlines now: 'Football fans across country sing same songs - SHOCK!'

Fact is that could be said of virtually every club!

As for wit and originality, we do have some or are Man U going to try to lay claim to the 'What a waste of petrol!' that appeared at the Mad Stad when we were thrashing one team during the fuel crisis?

Also, as one of the oldest clubs in the country, maybe most of the songs originated with us!

brighton_royal .... Every set of supporters starts off with 5 points and then up to 5 points can be deducted or added by the premier league official present at the match for good or bad behaviour. Deductions are made for "persistent foul and abusive language" "persistent abuse of the official's decisions" "persistent aggressive or threatening conduct towards opposing fans."....

Does anyone know where this "premier league official" actually sits at the Mad Stad... if, as I suspect, it is somewhere in the West..... I am shocked the West are that 'good' .... us lot in the East & North should be even lower in this so called "league" then...

Not really hard to be bottom of this table .
Prem grounds are becoming increasingly sterile .
You only have to watch a match on the box to realise the grounds are full of jap tourists or families trying to take pictures with thier mobile phones .
Once famous grounds are becoming no more than tourist attractons .
This is especially true of old traff and stamford bridge .

Pompey were the loudest in that table.

Anyway, no one would claim Reading fans were the loudest (surely!?). One thing I will say though, is you talk about other fans being wittier, but so far the big clubs who have visited the Madejski this season have failed to show that.

United, Chelsea, Tottenham and (in the first half at least) West Ham all failed to retort with any 'witty chants', they just wanted a fight. None of them could take a joke, far too easy to wind up.

Are they not 3 of the biggest grounds?

Having travelled to Anfield for both Cup and League games, I was very disappointed by the atmosphere. Oh yes very moving when the team comes out and they sing "you'll never walk alone"

The rest of the game the Kop was like a library. Talking to some scousers I meet afterwards they said there is only really an atmosphere for Champions League games and Everton/Manchester United.

That's as snobby as calling people plastics.

As for our chants, I do think we should drop all reference to Korean eating habits. That song is offensive & sh1te. No way to get behind a player.

Abusing the officials? Keep it coming, there seems to be visual black spot on that line in front of the east stand.

Finally whilst at the Watford games I heard a steward say to his colleague "Everyone is supposed to sit down during the game, these lot are very well behaved you won't have any trouble today". My heart sunk!

Maybe we could get him to add some points and that £20K is coming our way :?

tom_t69 Probably done by police reports and stuff and since we stand at a lot of away games thats probs brought us down. It is not the worst thing to hve though.

You must go to different away games than me, then. We stood at Upton Park and about half did at Fulham.

And that's it.

The survey alad refers to, I believe, averaged sound levels over 5 matches in every Prem ground. The final table was (in decibels)

Pompey 97
Newcastle 96
Liverpool 96
Man U 94
Sheff U 91
Bolton 90
Aston Villa 89
Blackburn 89
Everton 86
Reading 84
Man City 83
West Ham 81
Chelsea 80
Arsenal 77
Fulham 77
Wigan 72
Watford 71
Tottenham 68
Middlesbro 67
Charlton 65

Pompey fans also sang the longest so a bit remiss of alad to miss them out altogether when they beat Man U hands down. 10th loudest in our first season ain't bad although I suspect as we get used to the Prem and the novelty wears off our sound levels will go down.
