It was only a few posts above yours...

T.R.O.L.I. Three things

1. Any ideas when Sky announce their matches?

1 . They have about a week to announce them upto December, but it's complicated this year because Setanta need their picks too!

Dirk Gently At the moment our only Midweek matches are home and away to Chelsea (plus boxing day at West Ham and New Year's day home to Pompey), so no-one can really complain about those.

OS has Pompey at 19:45 on NYD, BBC and Sky have it as 15:00 on NYD - looks like the OS is wrong again

Unless we have moved to 19.45 and haven't filtered it through to the others. Maybe they want to give people more time to recover from their hangovers and not miss a 6-0 home win!

More likely some muppet looks at it and sees it's a weekday so puts 19.45, without realising it's a bank holiday.

A bit like the Charlton game on Easter Monday last season (before it was moved for Sky).

Surely you knew when the first 3 games would be. That's never been a secret.

Hope people are buying with a 12.15 ko in mind to be on the safe side.

If it is a 17:15 KO then you are screwed for coming back and an overnight will be required

So why is the season starting a week early?

I'd assumed it was to have an extra weeks preparation for the Euros but the last game is scheduled for the same weekend as it was this year.

No particular reason, except to ease pressure on the end of the season when there's European and FA Cup games to fit in.

...so what happens if..

..the Prem reinstate Sheff Utd after arbitration and increase the prem to 21 teams?

Do they redo the entire fixture list?

Won't happen, but interesting thought?

Fair enough, won't stop people complaining I'm sure though.

I was at a presentation from the fixtures compilation committee. As far as they are concerned it is impossible for there to be a 21-team Premier League using the criteria for fixtures used for this season.

Also Euro 2008 starting 1st/2nd week in June, so the FA probably have an agreement last in the last World Cup where the English players get a month's rest pre tournament

As I said in the post you quoted, the season ends on the same weekend as this season despite finishing early.

Jerry St Clair I have no interest in going to Old Trafford - a spackers day out.

I wasn't going to go to Old Triffid this year as I did it last, but me and my mate have a tradition of always going to the first game of the season wherever it is and it'll be a shame to break it. Guess I'll be there then...
