bigmike the booing of Cech seemed to work because she had a shocker

It worked on Sidwell also.

Booing Sidwell I'm not fussed about - he got a good clap and ovation before the game like he should have done.

Booing Cech was pretty dry.

Booing Seol is to be encouraged.

a risky strategy - surely booing motivates players - look at seol if you need an example.......

shadesrwrf I clapped when his name was called out. I booed him during the game. He now plays for Chelsea. Any tactic which unnerves an opposition player, whoever they are, is fair game in my opinion. (Although to be honest he's a professional football player and probably expected, and thought little of it). It had absolutely nothing to do with what I think of him as an individual.

Steve Sidwell was a loyal servant of Reading, I'm glad he played such an important role during his time at Reading and I wish him all the best and hope he does well at Chelsea.

Spot on.

RFCMod I was trying to think if on the South Bank we had the same boo boys but we did,
at Elm Park we were too busy booing Martin Hicks and Colin Gordon etc to care about ex-players.

I remember after Martin Hicks scored for us at Bolton, some fans even started singing "Now you're going to believe us, the donkey scored a goal"

Avon Royal A player on the other team got booed, big deal.

exactly, why are people making such a fuss over it. i remember when ex-players would get a much more hostile reception than that.

Agreed, Sidwell is an opposition player.
As soon as he pulled on a Chelsea Kit, he was fair game, just like the rest of them.

He doesn't want to play for us - why shouldn't we give him a hard time?

Hugo Boss

Not this time Stranded - Absolute 100% genuine bemusement at how ridiculous some of our supporters are.

If it wasn't for players like Sidwell then we wouldn't be where we are now. In my eyes that's a fact and therefore the man does not deserve to be booed.

Run that by me again? You expect RFC supporters to cheer for opposing players?? Is this another political correctness mantra shat on us from a great height by our beloved Labour party whilst I was getting half time Bovril???

Incredible, absolutely incredible. Hell in a hand basket, that's where we've ended up. Now if I had my way ..... zzzz z zz z ..... burp.

Hugo Boss If you were one of the embarrassments who did this, can I ask why??

Many other ex-RFC players aren't booed in that way when they come back.

Work it out for yourself. It's not rocket science.

So, let me get this right... someone who wants to better themselves and further their career deserves to be booed?? :?

Some people on here seriously need to take the blinkers off and get in the real world.

Forget his history, he's one of the opposition now.

Why make it easy for them by not giving Sidwell a hard time.

Exactly. While Cristiano Ronaldo makes people appear foolish by veering left and right at high speed, Fat Frank running straight and slow had a similar effect.
