Stranded
RobRoyal Not being good enough for England in no way rules you out of a call-up. It could happen, but I think Kitson, with his poached goals and slightly awkward style, is probably the most unfashionable player at an unfashionable club.

Then again, Emile Heskey.

Who whilst at an unfashionable club has played for Liverpool and already had 40 odd England caps behind him.

Indeed. My point being that he managed to achieve that depite being much maligned by all and sundry.

Royal Rother What a shame that such smug negativity is appearing more and more on this board after our poor start to the season.

Its called reality mate

How long is never? Please define never? Please provide your qualifications to say that Kitson will NEVER play for England?

Less than 18months ago a mong on here mentioned the word NEVER when responding to a thread about a Reading player in the existing squad one day playing for England.

Do you see where I'm going here Diddly diddly dee...? I'll spell it out for you, you can't say never because you can't say that over the next 3-4 years that Kitson will never play for England unless you have a magical crystal ball and can see so far into the future....

Oh, and you are a twat and probably gay too...

Im a twat and gay because i dont think Kitson is good enough to play for England???

It's really tempting to go out and murder/cripple every other English Premiership striker just to prove you wrong at the next England game.

Most of the media pundits want Ashton to play, is his form better than Kitson's at the moment?......... I think not.

He has already had a couple of seasons (well half seasons at least) in the Premiership though, and looked pretty good during that time.

IF Kits keeps his good form going, and IF about 6 or 7 other English strikers get injuries ruling them out of contention, then he still won't get any recognition; the fact is that only when the media start banging on about a player (or Michael Owen demands that someone be bought in!) does a player get a look in at International level.

Without naming names, there are 2 or 3 strikers further up the pecking order who will always be considered above an "unknown" even when they are barely getting any playing minutes with ther clubs.

Lita is closer to an England call up than Kits simply by virtue of his Euro U21 performances.

Kitson could quite easily play for England.

Watching the England games made me so irate sometimes, knowing Kitson would do a job up front for us.

All we need is a couple of injuries up front, a few more goals from Kits and Kits to have a chance in a smaller, maybe friendly, match and he might break through. To say he'll "never" play is a little stupid IMHO.

Certain players just don't appear to be on the England radar, Andrew Johnson has struggled to be considered as have Defoe and Horsefield. :)

A call up to the "B" team is not out of the question though, and if that happened, Kits could quite easily impress enough to get into the full squad.

Owen, Heskey, Ashton, Johnson, Crouch, Defoe, Bent > Kitson

Probably missed one or two there aswell.

Kitson has a long way to go to be even be mentioned in a squad for England.
That's not his fault.
But, it's just the way it is.

Dirk Gently
79Royal Although it is unlikely that Kitson will get a call up, there's no harm in singing it at the match on Saturday. It's just a way of letting him know that we all appreciate what he's doing for us at the moment.

And, it worked for Shorey!

If "working" means making sure he spent a couple of weeks with players of other clubs, all of whom were able to tell him all the time just how much better their club was and just how much more money they were earning each week - then you're right.

Agree it has done us no good. I also think that all this international travelling by our players has worked against us as a club.

Ideal Given the right circumstances I can see Kitson being England's Schillaci

I think he's got a touch of the Teddy Sheringhams about him - great footballing brain.

Only Owen, Rooney and Crouch (only for his height) are exceptional. Others are just good, and not necessarily any better than Kitson.
