Sadly, there's are a couple flaws in your plan. Firstly, we already have a twat with a drum. Secondly, I hate to be the trumpeter, imagine the embarassment of having to turn up to casualty every fortnight and explain how it got stuck up your arse.

What you mean this?

We have the chance, to sing some songs
We can sing whatever we want to sing
We gotta sing and chant, before we get much older
We're all someone's daughter
We're all someone's son
How long can we look at each other
Chanting for Reading?

You're the voice which stays in tune
Make some some noise and make it clear
Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna chant forever
Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo

This time, we know we all can all sing and stand together
With the power to be powerful
Believing, we can make it better
We're all someone's daughter
We're all someone's son
How long can you chant for
In the noisy east stand

From Despair To Where?
Ooo and it's alright and it's comin' 'long
We got to get right back to where we started from

Don't know about anyone else but I spent enough years in the 80's watching us hoof our sorry arses round Division 3 to ever want to get right back to where I started from.

Back to the original suggestion, It could work as a HNA anthem

You're Thou Voice, try and understand it
Make a post and make it clear
Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo
Just stop posting utter bollocks
Or piss off away from here
Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo

Good Lord!!!

I've only been here for five minutes and I already have the Bard's writing songs about little old ME!

Armadillo Roadkill Guys, we're lucky as a club to have one of the all time greats of football chanting in our heritage. OK, I know it may not been quite in keeping with the zeitgeist, and even I balk a little at it's politically incorrect references to bygone mores, but it's strength is such we could revive it in a post-ironic coup for those that endured the 1980s football scene.

It scans. It's starting premise is a vivid affirmation of identity, and not just any identity, OUR identity. It mentions us by name. It then proceeds to mild threat, but in the era we find ourselvs, this will be widely interpreted by visting fans as nothing more than bluff bravado. A taunt rather than a threat. Impudence rather than violence. A sublime poetic statement of that which bonds us together.

"We're Reading. We're Reading. We'll kick your fcuking head in."

I thank you.

When most people find out you support Reading, they tend to come out with this as if it is something we're famous for

Then there are those a little more itk who know about Bill Oddie! 8)

I think we need something with a bit of attitude...

That is why I think that

This one

or

This one

Would be perfect...or then again probably not. I don't think either would help us in our quest in being the family friendly team of the year. :P

Personally, I think we desperately need a club song. Once all of the plastics leave at the end of the season, we need something that all the loyal fans can get to know. I think 'Impossible Dream' is a great shout!

High energy stuff tho...and I would like to think that any team would like to be as high energy as possible going into any/every game. Yeah, Robin prolly would've loved those two selections.

NewburyURZFan right so i was watching american idol last night (no im not gay) and this dude was singing this song and i thought yes this would work, catchy and something easily sung by all. i then googled the song title to find out the lyrics and then thought wow this actually might work, these words actually have some meaning to our beloved club. obviously needs to be adapted but what do you guys think???

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=99P7TTvpO1g

here are the words.....

We have the chance, to turn the pages over
We can write what we want to write
We gotta make ends meet, before we get much older
We're all someone's daughter
We're all someone's son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?

You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear
Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo

This time, we know we all can stand together
With the power to be powerful
Believing, we can make it better
We're all someone's daughter
We're all someone's son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?

John Farnham recorded this back in the eighties, still got the single.

I thought that 'Nothin's gonna stop us now' (by Starship) would have been a good one. Especially in our Champions of the Championship years of course.

When I heard 'The Impossible Dream' at the start of this season, I must admit I thought there was something inevitable about it and so it proved, unfortunately.

Let's hope the club think of a better one next season.

I did however think the songs they played after we had lost were rather amusing. Not that I can remember any of them now.
