Bolton boss Gary Megson thinks his side's 1-0 win over West Ham means that Birmingham, Fulham, Reading and themselves are locked in a four-way battle for Premier League survival.

Gus the teenage cow it's a fair point but let me put this to you and please don't answer with the panic Leeds 9/11 answer......do you think pompey fans are enjoing their season more than Reading's fans?

do you think reading accountants are happier than Pompey's accountants?

I suspect it's a yes in both cases so I would this

happy fans>happy accountants

In year 1 yes.
I'm wondering how long it would be before we drop like a stone if we lost 24million a year?

the hope for reading is that i can see us and bolton mirroring each other in terms of form until the last game of the season. If this happens then we would remain 3 points above them come the derby game and they have chelsea away which is a tough ask to get a win. The thing is that you cant even totally discount fulham making it out of trouble now as the so called tough games against liverpool and pompey they have are acheivable points wise as both teams have europe and the fa cup in mind. The result for wigan tonight is pretty much a disaster as i think it effectively rule them out of trouble. They have a few tough games including Man Utd but are just that futher away now with fewer games left. Even if we win against wigan (assuming that the points gap is the same after our next game v arsenal) we will still not be above them on goal difference and 2 still to play, although i think the wigan game is a key game for us because if we come away with a point or 3 it will keep us above water from the rest below and probably end a 3/4 match losing run. Birmingham i think are still very much the team in trouble and have fixtures on a par with ours, the worry though is that players eg mcfadden and zarate have the quality to make a difference. I really hope that it doesnt come down to goal difference, but there is a big likelyhood that it could be the case and for anyone 'applauding' the reckless 7-4 ,4-2 and 6-4 type defeats earlier in the season this could come back to haunt us. Who knows game by game it will change, but i think we will end up needing a result against derby to confirm our status, and on big game matches where so much is at stake i can only think of jamie cureton's deft lob in my 16 years supporting the club as a time where we have grasped what is put in front of us.

it was lucky he was about, as nobody would have realised that if he hadn't pointed it out.
