I'd like our reserves to play the first team in the hope that it might help our manager to understand where he fcuked up and why we should still be in the Premiership.................but I won't hold my breath.

Of course, all those reserves like Long, Gunnarsson, Oster and Fae that made such a difference when they came in

Dulwich Hamlet. Can remember a nice relaxing sunny Saturday afternoon there a few seasons ago.

I know it's painful for Siddy's fan club (is there a more deluded member than H & P  ) but, without pulling up any trees last season Gunnarsson can still point to his injury as the point at which our nosedive acquired the impetus that led to relegation.

As for other reserves.

By the final game Bikey warranted a place in both defence and midfield but was on the bench because, apparently, £1.5m a year doesn't hire a manager who can bring himself to drop the likes of Harper, the often out-classed Ingimarsson and the always lazy "couldn't give a sh*t" Shorey.

And, how the fcuk DLC got shoved out the door before Shorey beggars belief.

Perhaps the club thought we'd get more money for Shorey rather than just releasing him, as we have DLC. Esp as DLC is rather older than Shorey.

How about a genuine tribute to Tommy Burns with a match against Glasgow Celtic and all proceeds going to cancer research? That would certainly restore some of my faith in footballl folk!

I don't think he made much difference. He wasn't a creative player, and we went down because we scored 8 goals in 17 games prior to Derby. Having two wingers injured, and the other two fit ones playing crap for four months is what killed us. And unless the Henry hype is anywhere near reality, we didn't have reserves to replace the players Coppell had to persevere with.

Silly old Woodcote.

The man who thought we'd qualify for Europe this season. There's no one on this board who knows less about football IMHO and he demonstrates it with every post.

If we'd replaced Sidwell, we'd not have gone down.

There are posters who believed that by not replacing Sidwell, we'd have got into Europe.

There's a real gap between the fact and the opinion here. :|

I've heard Reading are planning a pre-season friendly against a top Polish team due to the large number of Polish people in the town.

I'd say it's very unlikely as it'd mean we'd have to have a home friendly before the tour of Sweden, and we don't usually have home friendlies that early in the schedule.

Then again the Sweden tour's timing makes it look like we'd assumed we'd stay up when we arranged it.

Sidwell was always replacable, as were most of Coppell's under-performing favourites but, by his own admission, the manager had too much faith in them and felt too close to drop them.

That's why some of us didn't feel the need to beg him to stay....................he let us down last season.

Nice to see Schards (who know's so much about football that he predicted we would finish 8th in our Ist top flight campaign and is never far off the mark  ) remains firmly up his own backside.

If he was replaceable within our budget then why wasn't he replaced? He certainly wasn't under-performing in 06/07. Did you mean to write Shorey?

You're right actually, he must look like a mug since we finished...oh. Never mind.

Still never let the blindingly obvious get in the way eh?

Woodcote does raise a few good points. WHY was DLC released and why did Bikey get relegated to the bench when he was the only player who looked half decent?

LOL @ you still harping on about Sidwell. It's pretty sad to be honest but then that does not surprise me with an old moaner like you.

We were in mid table post Boxing Day, our down turn in form came when our strikers and everyone else failed to score goals after this period. Gunnar picked up an unfortunate injury but is not the sole reason we were relegated, to think so would be laughable. He then did not recover to play a single game for the rest of the season, you can't rely on a player who can only manage 20 or so games in a season as a lynchpin of your midfield.
