I did, lots of people I know did, more importantly Coppell did.
Ummmm long term...any examples that Coppell is basing his midfield around this 'youngster?'
Thought not, ideally Coppell would have him as an impact sub, he's a very versatile player and he is a top professional for us, this season he can do a job, but you were too narrow-minded to see that.

Happy that you've seen the light though, well done!

winchester_royal Like no one else has ever been proven wrong.......

Like everyone else thought Gunnar would have a positive effect......

I am more than happy to be proven wrong, but I still think in the long term Gunnarsson does not feature.

I think many of us did not think Gunnar could do a job for us this year but he has done really well in recent games, may it continue.

winchester_royal Apparently Gunnar is close to a return.

I'm actually more concerned than pleased., especially given his form last year. He has lost his pace, and is no longer the player he was before, and I am worried he may stint the development of Karacan, and maybe even get in the team ahead of Marek.

Anyone else share these concerns?

:D

Hes only gained us 3 points in our last 2 away games  lol @ his concern
make that 4 points actually.

Looking back over the past few seasons, Bryn has popped up with some crucial goals at crucial times (2 against Sheff U, a goal at Old Trafford, a brilliant equaliser against Liverpool............not to mention his last two recent ones).........

............he's not bad at his job either

kind've ironic SLAMMED

was unlucky to lose his place due to a knock, and lots of INTL games.and previously he was being cited by everyone as one of the main reasons for our good form
is working very hard to win his place back, and if he carries on like this he will do.

he is one of my favourite reading players ever.despite not always featuring, his attitude, ability, experience and finish have always been class IMO

I like Gunnar a lot, but I think he is best used as a sub, saying that though, you could argue his longevity is stunting the growth of Karacan.

True but it's also aiding our promotion challenge.

Take 5 years off Bryn and put them on Karacan and that would be a midfield.

Karacan is going to be great.

I love his energy, speed, tenacity.

I hope Coppell plays him more as the season reaches it's climax.

I think he fits into the Reading system MUCH better than Matejovsky. In fact I would almost get rid of Matejovsky.

I think Matejovsky has been very screwed over by the relegation. I think Coppell may well have been intending to change our system when he brought him in, but has now decided to stick with the tried and tested formula that we know can get us promoted, which unfortunately he doesn't fit into very well.

As a friend of mine said yesterday, Coppell didn't think we were in a relegation battle when he signed Matejovsky. When we turned out to be in one that's when it all went wrong for Matejovsky.

Oh well I'm happy with the way things are going at the moment and I'm not going to cry if Marek isn't playing.

Re: Karacan he is a very exciting prospect. I would rather him on the bench then Marek to be honest but Coppell has the problem of trying to keep a tested international like Marek happy. So in a sense Marek is halting the progress of Karacan just as much.
