It dosen't matter if you are 2-0 or 6-0 you should keep chanting to get behind your team!! Earlier on the season Reading Town played Kidlington and went 2-0 down in the 1st half down but we never stopped chanting as that's when the players need your support most when you are being beaten. 2nd half and the Barmy Army as usual were singing no matter what and the goal came to make it 2-1. Then people around us (the reading rockers) started to belive we could get a draw so they joined in with non stop chanting which was great as it must us even louder. Last minute with everyone on a knife edge the Town scored and the place went mental with people jumping in the air. It's all good and well singing when your team is winning but they need the most support when they are loosing.[/quote]royalexile

Royal Lady If Hunty actually was a "gypo or pikey" or whatever names he was being called, you might have a point about the racial slant - but he's not and our own vans sing the very same to players with longish hair. Get a grip.![]()

LoyalRoyalFan I had a pleasant walk back to my car after the game.
This huge obese City fan was walking behind me and he started shouting abuse at me as i got into the car. I let him waddle past me and as i went off in the car, i kissed my Reading badge as i went past him. He was not happy.
Classic.

A real man would have turned around and kissed the badge in front of him. Powder puff.

Are you so short sighted that you can't see it doesn't matter a jot who the abuse is aimed at and whether it is 'accurately' directed or not? Racism is a cancer in society and in football that must be stamped out.

FiNeRaIn ...they (some reading fans) leave 10 mins early when we are winning.

So, presumably, if someone threw a bananaskin or made monkey noises at Bikey, and he just shrugged it off, it would mean it also shouldn't be dealt with? The point is that the term "gypo" is a term of racist abuse; "pikey" I'm ambivilent about, as it clearly doesn't have racist origins but has generally come to be associated with being a gypsie too. Anyway, the seriousness of using racist language is not generally measured by whether or not the target reacts.

Banana skins are a blatant racist symbol.
Pikey and Gypo songs refer to someone's long hair.
To say the two are not remotely similar is still grossly understating it.

Schards#2 I'm amazed anyone gives a toss about what other sets of fans do or don't do.
