Wolfatthedoor Oxford off all you Royals - glad I got that off my chest!

Anyway, seems unlikely to me, but what are the chances of Wolves signing Doyle?

Absolutely no chance.

Thaumagurist* Oh go away. This is already discussed on the rumours forum.

Bloody Wolves. I don't like them.

Hmm - sweeping generalisation about all Wolves fans - how sad.

Good point - last two words of your post sums him up perfectly.

As far as doyle is concerned, if he went to you most Reading fans would be as surprised/aggrieved/annoyed as Wolves fans would have been if we had been successful in getting Lescott when we went up

Ignore him, he's the village idiot. I think you'll struggle to get Doyle because you're one of the group of teams who could go down next year and he's very settled here and probably thinks he has as much chance of playing sustained Premiership football here. How do you reckon the rest of your strikers will get on in the top flight?

Why would Doyle want to go to a small-time over-rated club?

He wouldn't but Wolves? - Wimabigclub - it may surprise you to know that most Wolves fans don't actually think we are big club, but some of you do appear to have a chip on your shoulder about us.

I totally understand the view that he may well do well at a mid-table club, but his scoring form has deserted him a little, and he may well remember that Reading were touted as relegation fodder before they had a good first season - also, who would have predicted Newcastle as going down last season.

He may also know that we are going to sign Messi and Ribery

Hmmmm, I would think that anyone who wanted Coppell to leave last season is a bigger village idiot.

Sorry, when is this promotion party?

Welcome wolfatthedoor.

I think Doyle would link very well with SEB up front for you; he also does a lot of defensive work and is a good bloke to boot, so he would definately be a positive acquisition for you.

Whether he would go is debatable however; I suspect it would depend on who else might come in for him (or who his agent is telling him might be coming in for him!)

I would be surprised if Doyle is still a Reading player come 1st September, regardless of who he does end up at.

Good louck for next season.

Is it really much of a step up for Doyle to move to Wolves? Sure, they're in the Premiership, but they aren't a top class side and they have every chance of being relegated next season. I think Doyle moving to Everton or Blackburn may be more likely.

Saucer of milk for Steve!

But will his scoring record in the last 18 months attract a "top class side"?

I like milk. :D
No, but it's not particularly his fault he faulted on 18 goals - the delivery he was getting from midfield was horrendous.
As a result, he was often lured back into midfield to pick up the ball and try to move things forward - which didn't help him.
He was also out injured for a month or two and that can't have helped.
Give him the delivery, and he will score, no doubt.

Could see it happen, but only if you are willing to cough up £6.5m+ and no one with better prospects like Villa, Everton maybe Fulham etc are in for him.

Wouldn't be upset, great player but he can get stuck in a rut a bit too easily. Resigned to losing him tbh. My dislike of Wolves has ebbed to being nearly non-existent these days.

As things stand I think Doyle's place in the Irish set up is pretty safe but don't underestimate the power of "World Cup Year syndrome". Going to someone like Wolves where he's likely to feature in the Premiership week in week out could appeal more than playing a bit part at a more established Premiership club or staying in the Championship. The same can be applied to any of our players with International aspirations.

Good job the Czechs have bounced Marek eh?

Said it before and I'll say it again. Everton will not be signing the likes of Doyle and Hunt. Their fans are demanding Top 4-style signings.

Blackburn? Unlikely. Don't think Doyle has shown good enough form over last 2 years to go somewhere as established as that.

Wolves? Highly likely. Plastic paddy manager and about Doyle's level.

Good shout I'd say. £4m would be okay business baring in mind the fact that Mr Mad says we have to sell before we buy.
