Harpers So Solid Crew I think i pointed out that Coppell might not have had a choice about bringing Lita back to the club.

?

Coppell said he wanted to sign another striker for Jan, however we already had as many as the budget might allow, so unless Lita left, which he didnt, then Coppell may not have had the money to sign another striker.

If you think that JM has no influence on overal matters you would be wrong.

strap Many thanks for the reports and feedback. Just one question really, (and it's not loaded, merely a genuine request), do any of you who went on tour think that the Academy youngsters are really ready now to step into the 1st team on a regular basis? Is the optimism put out by BR well founded, or is it merely the usual window dressing/rhetoric nonsense that we have come to know and expect from RFC over the last 4-5 years?

This season could either be the most exciting, or miserable, one for quite some time, (106 excepted of course).

Roll on Forest.

After seeing the Sweden games i think our starting 11 should be 4-3-3 (or 4-5-1)

Federici
Rosenior Pearce (Gunnarsson, bikey when ban is over) Bertrand
Harper (k)
Karacan Matejovski
N.Hunt Long Kebe

I think youngsters such as Robson-Kanu and Bignall impressed however i was dissapointed with Church just dont get what people see in him and Henry is a good player to throw on at the end of games but just isnt ready for 90 mins yet as he is good at getting past players but doesnt have the best concentration and fluffs up his final pass or shot far too often. I wouldnt be surprised to see none of them play though as im not sure how much nerve BR has got? Against Qviding he played a 4-4-1-1 and we played like we did towards the end of last season where there was far too much hit and hope and we didnt play very well. I´d rather we had a season where we finish 14th or 15th and try and play in the new style short passing game and use youngsters so we can build on the following season instead of playing safe and finishing 8th

Coppell could've sold Lita last season and he signed Mooney before doing what he's done to most of his signings in recent years and letting him rot in the reserves before sending him out on loan.

If the budget wasnt there how come we bought in Kitson on loan?

tried to sell him, lita didnt want to go, mooney looked pretty poor until he got some games, and that was surely what he went to norwich for FFS
leave it alone, im sick of besmirching his good name with your incessant sniping.

Do you have a problem with basic arithmetic?

The last time I brushed the dust off my abacus, I calculated that last years Championship contained 24 teams and only someone willing to give birth for Coppell would attempt to suggest that we were not one of a handful of teams that had £11m of parachute payments, or any similar sum, at their disposal whilst the vast majority of the league had to survive on a comparative pittence..

I'd say we were one of 10 teams (at least) that had decent resources. Which makes a bit of a mickery of claims that the vast majority survived on a pittance. Not sure why you bring parachute payments into it. They aren't there to fund new acquisitions.

Woodcote Royal From Christmas on, we were regularly out played by many of these teams not least by Burnley, who already looked like they belonged in a different league by the time they'd despatched us from the playoffs...

So what you are saying is that resources available are not what makes a team ? I see your logic.
Burnley didn't look in any way superior to us in the first leg but two cracking goals certainly gave them a huge confidence boost. That's undeniable, but not sure why it's relevant to whether Doyle was any good in the second half of the season !

Woodcote Royal Had Coppell brought a shot gun to work and blasted both barrells into a stand of his choice apologists such as yourself would still have found reason to justify not sacking him..

Well I suspect those of limited mental cpacity may need to come up with a reason to sack him rather anyone need to justify NOT sacking him ! Of course you won;t have one that holds water....

Woodcote Royal However, back on planet earth, 5,000 missing STH's suggests I'm far from alone in knowing that Coppell and his squad grossly under performed over the last 2 seasons...

You have a degree in stating the bleedin' obvious then ? Oddly most people worked this one out months ago but well done for trying to claim it as your own personal idea !

Woodcote Royal I can't wait for Coppell to get another job so his pathetic fan club can post their cringeworthy nonsense elsewhere.

Do you foam at the mouth when you post ?

If you ever come up with a cooherent thought perhaps you'll go back and address the original point. If Doyle had a poor second half of the season on what basis does you claim that Coppell shoul dhave replaced him in January represent anything other than a major rewrite of history to attempt to put some rational into your disjointed ravings ?

The club can spend them on whatever they like

They are designed to help clubs stagger their loss of revenue but that doesnt mean they have to be spent on the wages, especially when we know the wage bill was cut by 40% when we went down

That's what worries me! It's last season's team, (minus the assets stripped), and the backs ups are the academy players. It's going to be a long hard season I fear.

Which just demonstrates your bottomless capacity to spout ill informed nonsense.

QPR were the only team that had any chance of competing with the £11m a season parachute payments of the teams relegated from the Premiership over the previous 2 seasons and any evidence supporting that view was far from conclusive.

Do you, really? Somehow I doubt it.

Making the best use of available resourses are what makes a good manager and, therefore, a good team.

Coppell not only had far greater financial resources than most of his rivals he also had a Premiership squad left largely intact following relegation not to mention a significant number of very promising youngsters who nearly all did well on debut yet mostly found themselves dumped in favour of "106" favorites at the first opportunity.

Sun Tzu Well I suspect those of limited mental capacity may need to come up with a reason to sack him rather anyone need to justify NOT sacking him ! Of course you won;t have one that holds water....

A needless relegation followed by relegation form in much of the last half of the following season would be seen as reasonable cause by most of those who don't think the sun shines out of Coppell's backside,

Woodcote Royal However, back on planet earth, 5,000 missing STH's suggests I'm far from alone in knowing that Coppell and his squad grossly under performed over the last 2 seasons...

I was "stating the bleedin' obvious" because you clearly lack the ability to see it for yourself..............any claims of originality are figment of your imagination.

Woodcote Royal I can't wait for Coppell to get another job so his pathetic fan club can post their cringeworthy nonsense elsewhere.

I'm guessing Coherant in your dictionary means anything that fails to illustrate the pathetic and grovelling nature of those who refuse to move on from their hero worship of Steve Coppell.

There is no need to re-write history.

As others have pointed out, Doyles lack of form went back to November, as did the lack of any other striker showing signs of being able to take his place.

We did, however, have the resources to bring in extra cover which Coppell elected not to do apart from the out of form Kitson and the largely immobile Glen Little.

If only he could have added Sidwell, Shorey and Sonko to the list of loanee's that might have given the team, a very familar look  ................and I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to pull if off
