I'm cheesed off that I was hoodwinked into renewing my season ticket early,

how?

did they promise you something you have not received?

The implication was that we would continue to push for promotion. At renewal time, we were in with a good chance of promotion; the message from the club was that they were doing me a favour by letting me keep my season ticket for the same price as last year. Last year we were going to challenge to get back to the promised land, this season we are doing no such thing.

I have paid the same money this year (and early, so the money is not earning interest for me, but for the club) to watch a lower standard of football than last year, with lower expectations. Hence, hoodwinked.

BTW, your 'Shift' key appears to be broken, might want to get that looked at.

But you are getting to watch the fullfillment of the academy and see a team become rejuvenated and full of promise, rather than a team running low on ideas fall towards the end of the race for the 3rd season running.

And you'll still see plenty of football from the same level from the other teams.

It's impossible to believe that Ryn actually believes any of that !

If he does it's not hoodwinking by the club but pure naivety on his part.

I'm sure they are very nice people and all that but Ryn and Tilehurst Mike represent everything I detest about (some) modern football supporters.

"I've paid my money, now if the club don't do what I think they should do with it, I'm going to jump up and down and stamp my feet in frustration!"

It really wasn't like that in the old days was it?

Sorry mate but you're watching the modern game now, so you get modern supporters. You get things like internet forums, where people can share their opinions now, instead of standing around in the dole queue after the local pit has been closed down.

How come you managed to capitalise the S? ;)

Bad spelling and grammar make it difficult for non-native English speakers like myself to follow what people are saying.

JM promised a second tier on the East Stand if we had a second season in the Prem. Which we did.

Yes I am a nice person but don't consider myself a 'modern' football supporter whatever that means?

I am very much 'old school', used to stand in the middle of the South Bank with 5 or 6 mates who still go to all the games now with me.

All I am saying is that I think the club missed a 'golden opportunity to stay in the Premiership for want of investing a bit more on the playing side which for whatever reason they chose not to do.

It slightly galls me that having watched the Madjeski documentary, a vast amount of the incoming transfer fees are seemingly being used to bolster other Companies in the Madjeski empire which he admitted were'haemorraging money'

That said, I am still very much looking forward to a 'new look' team running on to the park on Saturday!!

Just don't label me a 'modern' supporter. I am just a 'normal' football supporter who happens to have an opinion which others may or may not agree with

There are no guarantees in life, and there are none in football either.

(I'm generalizing)

You can't make an accusation like that without backing it up with facts. That isn't far off being libellous.

No-one's ever disputed that - but you can't blame that on "the club" - whatever you mean by that. Blame it on the previous manager, maybe.

We also missed "golden opportunities" to go up a division when we lost in the two play-off finals - if they'd spent a few more pounds on players then we'd have arguabkly stayed up - but we might not have done. Ditto when we went down in 98. Start playing the game of "what if" and it never ends!

Do you seriously believe that to be the case? If so, you've not terribly au fait with the facts.

The extra 6000 seats were going to go where in the East stand?

I can't be bothered and won't, where the seats were to go is largely irrelevant now.

My point was that there were plans to extend the stadium, which were submitted and accepted, during summer 08, based on us surviving two years in the Premiership with sell-out seat allocation.
