Royal Lady
Sun Tzu Has there been a match since then ?

Hard to be match fit without having a match.

Not being match fit doesn't stop you playing in a match though.

There's a progression RL isn't there....

You get injured, therefore you aren't fit.

You get better, you get back into training, you get fitter but you aren't match fit. That only comes through playing matches.

So you get a few matches under your belt and you become match fit.

McAnuff hasn't played for a while, so he's unlikely to be match fit.

Whether his injury is at a stage where he's fit enough to make the bench or the team I don't know.

But the comment that he won't be match fit seems pretty straightforward to me and doesn't make any assumptions about what injury he may or may not have at the moment.

 He hasn't played in any reserve games either, so it's not a case of not being match fit, it's a case of being INJURED. I can't be bothered to get into an argument about it.

He is expecting to start running again late this week, so the Donny game is too early for him. He's only been out 3 weeks so his match fitness should be that much of an issue. His injury is bone bruising in the back.

You can usually maintain peak condition for a couple of weeks without training intensively so I'd agree Wycombe, 3 weeks shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Get a week's training and a reserve game under his belt and he'll be sorted.

Is that too controversial ?

The only thing controversial about McAnuff is McAnuff. I suspect that he will prove to be the most disappointing of our recent new signings, although I hope that I am wrong and that they all turn out to be stars.

So did he become "not match fit" in only three weeks then or what? You've confused me now.

No, but it took a while getting there. Maybe when RL rolls her eyes some people get a mental image of their own missus tutting and tapping the rolling pin, and so the red mist descends. To sum up - McAnuff has or had a back injury (which he had when we signed him - not that it's relevant) and even if he's over that and back training, he won't be in the squad on Saturday because he hasn't yet got any reserve games under his belt.

Sorted? Good.

Should be back running by the end of the week.

It's impossible to get any real meaning from RL's use of the rolly eye smillie, because she uses it with almost every 3rd post.

For the record, I knew he was injured when we bought him but didn't see the point in getting into a semantic argument about the difference between match fit and an injury. I assumed that the injury was a minor one, and that he'd probably be recovered enough to play after a couple of weeks.

Obviously we're actually looking at 3-4 weeks, so that was a bit premature. Good news for Hal though.

I'd guess he became not match fit once he got injured.

But that's just a guess.

I'm sure you'll be able to ask him.

andrew1957 Think we will play this one 4-2-1-3

Federici
Cummings
O'Dea (Mills has not looked match fit)
Pearce
Bertrand

Karacan
Gunnar

Sigurdsson

Kebe
Hunt
Robson-Kanu

Bench - Hamer, McAnuff, Howard, Mills, Long, Cisse, Rasiak

Howard for HRK and you'd be about right I'd say. With Kebe taking no reposnibility for anything, we need a couple of old pros in the centre like Gunnar and Howard to allow Kebe to be utter shite as usual.

McAnuff is not yet fit enough to make his debut.
