Ideal As far as I can tell he has had nearly a month and a half to train properly, which should be plenty enough time for a professional footballer to achieve the required level of fitness.
The only conclusion I can draw from this is that he was not worth the money we paid for him.

Thats cos you're, in all liklihood, an uninformed retard.

Thanks

Will you stop with the insults please, I've already seen 4 complaints filed that your're a racist. I'm currently looking into this.

I don't always see eye to eye with you Ideal, but this is exactly what I've been saying. But of course, we're not entitled to discuss this, as we're wrong! LOL .I'm surprised Royalee hasn't chipped in today too.

But have we had a protracted debate about what match fitness is, and how it is achieved?

i would imagine, either rodgers sees odea as much better, which he is, or celtic have a clause in the loan deal that he has to plauy a large percentage of games
mills will be back though. thats the thing when you have 4 good CBs, two of them will not be playing.

we was mugged, ripped off, cheated, swindled, purloined, racketeered, humbugged, hustled, shammed, gypped, deceived, bamboozled, scammed and cozened.

all by a second rate team from yorkshire. the whole deal smacked of kneejerk-ism and now (what player cant get match fit in a month?) he cant make the team.

..

no idea of th eterms of teh loan deal

most loans have the club being loaned to paying some, or all of the wages for that player, but we just dont know
i dont see how thats relevant to him playing every game.

he looks good enough to me.and pearce is vice captain, so..............

Royal Lady Was Mills the signing that I said "smacked of desperation" after we couldn't get Tommy Smith? I honestly can't remember.

Yes it was, although as pointed out it was ridiculous comment.

Back to Mills though, and why we bought him...

He's a very promising defender with, hopefully, a long and successful career ahead of him. Because of that we wanted him, and we wanted him enough to pay £2m to get him.

Since then the manager hasn't played him much, for whatever reason, one of which is probably his lack of fitness, but now he's been given the opportunity to play someone he presumably thinks is a bit better at the moment. I don't see too much wrong with that at the moment, although for the long term good of the club I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense.

No

Instead we have had a ridiculous debate on how a player costing 2 million is actually a waste of money after just 7 games of the new season, when in reality he isnt as up to speed yet as the other players, especially with a player with Champions League experince who would be ahead of him in the pecking order anyway.

I think Rodgers wanted to show everyone he had arrived, show everyone he had balls, he was a man of action, <insert random big-up here>, times they are-a-changin', so he went and spent as much money as he could - just to make a statement. Unfortunately it turned out his statement was: "I'm shit in the transfer market."

i think thats rubbish

neither opinion is based on anything of much note

To be fair, at least 90% of the opinions posted on here are complete rubbish, as they are made by people who have never even played the game

And yet, both Mills and Ivar were on the bench last night. My reckoning is that young Alex will make may very shortly so that Ivar and O'Dea form the CD partnership. But looking at last night, why have Ivar, Mills and Cisse on the bench?

with 7 subs and a majority of our attacking midfielders on the pitch, i guess it made sense.

tbf 93% of statistics are made up on the spot my friend, and opinions on opinions tend to be the most slurrious of the lot. i would, however, like to know how you reached your lofty plinth of conversational overview and when and where you 'played the game' to gain such obvious and broad-minded expertise.

we daft numpties shall continue to argue the demerits of the offside system with ketchup bottles until your next sermon.

(if there is a whoosh here, its not funny.) :?

Christ the retards are out in force on here.

Size of signing fee =/= the reason for playing someone. Anyone getting their nickers in a twist about a player not starting just because they cost a lot is a total oxf*rd.
Anyone complaining about a player who cost a lot not starting when the ones in his position are performing well is a oxf*rd.

Mills did not have a full preseason. As a specialist centreback he was still a better bet than Cisse despite this. He can now get as close to up to speed as possible in the reserves (which aren't a massively disimilar level to preseason games - the way everyone else got up to speed). Pearce is captain and is obviously highly rated by Rodgers. O'Dea is from Celtic and is being groomed for their first team, so is obviously a player for the top of this division, which is higher than we are. He has barely put a foot wrong. Mills did not look up to speed in the games he played. It's a oxf*rd no brainer.

You do not bring a centreback on in a close game, or one you are losing just to give him a few minutes to get match fit. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a oxf*rd.

This is probably the stupidest thing people could be complaining about right now.

And for the record, Mills signed way before the Smith deal fell apart and is a centreback. How on earth could he be a desperation signing because of that. That is quite frankly THE stupidest thing I have seen on the Team Board this season. Congrats RL. That's no mean achievement considering posters like Woodcote and Royalee.
