I like Vokes, saw him play a few games for Bournemouth and he's definitely better than what we've got.

Agree about Vokes. Now on loan at Leeds. Can't help but think we missed a trick here.

Shame for Noel, a real trier and I admire his work ethic.....but he is so damned ordinary isn't he? I didn't go to Barnsley where he scored twice but having seen the goals one was obviously a penalty and the goal from open play has to go down as shocking Barnsley defending. In the games I have seen, he hasn't come even remotely close to scoring for all his diligence.

I like the player in so much as he is a hard worker, but he is unremittingly average at this level. The fact that he is regarded on this thread as our best striking option is particularly damning verdict on the likes of Rasiak, Church and Long.

He is indeed quality, although he runs like a chicken.

Good player, yes, but he is playing two divisions below us it must be noted. He wasn't exactly prolific in League One, but he's formed a decent partnership this season with Steve Fletcher.

There are far better options than both he and Vokes around though, surely?

Does no one take into account that if this injury was niggling him since back end of last season that it may of affected his ability to perform at top of his game?

What about Sturridge seeing as he doesn't have a hope in hell of making the Chelsea first team after last night...

Good point. I'd forgotten about that when I suggested him earlier.

We don't have a strikeforce.

Long - never rated, never a starter.
Church - flashes of brilliance but nothing more than promising at the moment.
Rasiak - a Polish Keith Scott in many ways.
Hunt - our only decent contender, now injured.

Perhaps we should play Federici up front? His goals:minutes in the opposition penalty area ratio is higher than anyone elses.

Totally agree. I know i've defended him earlier in this thread, but even last season when was scoring I though he was limited.

Good leap, works hard, but doesn't really "have it", whatever "it" is.

Vision Shit happens I'm afraid. For every Little or Hunt there will be players who have been perfectly ok by letting an injury settle down instead of operating needlessly and keeping them out for months. You're just never going to hear about them.

Mostly it works out for the best but every now and again its the wrong call.

You don't believe in insurance then?!

Still, why pay the insurance premium when you are trying to cut the cloth!

Even had Hunt recovered from his injury, our strike force was hardly awe-inspiring. Now it's a cheap joke!

paultheroyal Take Marlon King off my shopping list - just been sentenced to 18 months!!!!

You hadn't seen that coming?!

Still, now Wigan have sacked him, he would be a pretty cheap signing to please our Chairman! Just have to wait a season for him to deliver the goods. Pretty much like our other cheap signings then!

Just spoken to a colleague who's a Charlton season ticket holder about Mooney, and although he hasn't been to see them for a couple of months due to a new baby, he thinks he's just made one sub appearance but looked alright from what he remembers. But then if he HAS only made one sub appearance it doesn't bode well I'd say.

As I said earlier, he's made two.

Coming on in the 89th minute of one game and the 75th (I think) of the other.

And again, Charlton aren't exacly struggling so don't have a pressing need to introduce him to the line up.
