I'd like to see a comparison of starts: goals scored from starts for Long. I think that might be a little illuminating.

EDIT: goals from starts = 16 (checking soccerbase, so there cuold be some minor "user error"): Starts = 54, So: 1 in 3.4 starts.

Sub appearances = 81, goals from the bench = 10

Rasiak: 5 in 14, or 1 in 2.8 AND Church: 4 in 21, or 1 in 5.3

weybridgewanderer I think McD's comment tonight has indicated there has been a weight problem

Also in Matt Mills video interview on the OS Mills says something on the lines that both he [Mills] and Long have had to lose some weight.

Bulking up with muscle would add more weight than fat though so it's not impossible that Long overdid the gym work and had to streamline a bit.

usual HNA extreme view on display. Long has always been a more effective player than he's been given credit for and he's also not suddenly become the new Robbie Keane. The main change seems to be that he now looks up when he has theball and plays with team mates rather than getting his head down and running down blind alleys.

I'd say thats a fair post ST. Long has been ridiculed on here and whilst he is no Robbie Keane is a damn sight better than he gets credit for.

Long is THE in form player in the division now.
Nobody can argue with that.

Just watch him go and get injured now...

Sorry to argue but Roman Bednar may have something to say about who the form player is.

Saw the highlights of the match. Positive: Long scored twice. Negative: He missed two or three golden opportunities. Positive: He looks fit and quick enough to get into position for those opportunities. He's getting goals, he's gaining in confidence, and I think he's going to start putting more of those opportunities away.

Scored 5 goals in our last seven games. How many of them he has actually played in, I'm not sure.

He missed 2. the commentators kept the putting the wrong name to the player who missed the opportunity. Also for the record church missed 2 not the 5 that the commentator was making out.

Long gets a mention here: http://www.adifferentleague.co.uk/defau ... ticle=1445

Depends what you count as form really. How often does a player go more than a handful of games scoring each match? I think hitting goals in three or four games in a row makes you an inform player. Definitely enjoying Shane scoring while it lasts, hoping we will see a better player for good now.

Yes, and you could quibble about his first touch for the first goal too, but frankly so long as he is getting into the positions and we keep creating chances, he will score goals. Who cares if it's 2 from 8, so long as it is 2.

Unlucky to get a red, but no way it could be appealed.

Challenge was a touch late and he definitely leapt in a bit. But I thought studs were down and he only just caught the guy on the foot.

Four game ban, unless I'm very much mistaken. Three games for serious foul play, and an extra game for two sendings off in a season (Derby away). He'll miss the Palace, Blackpool, WBA replay, and Wednesday games, and be back available either for Scunthorpe or the sixth round.

Unlucky? You cant just go leaping at players like that, if you do you have to get there the same day and not that late. It was reckless and I dont think he can have any complaints with it

I'll reserve proper judgment until i've seen it again, but from where I was it looked a clear red, and I think many Reading fans will agree as no-one really seemed to throw up much of a fuss when it happened!

my picture wasn't great, but from the TV angle and replays I thought it was harsh. Especially seeing how reluctant the ref was to do anything about most challenges.

Definite foul. Definite yellow at least.

Saw it really clearly - 100% red card.
