To halt a pointless argument - there were roadworks on both the M5 AND M6.

M6 was down to one lane pretty much all the way from Brum to Stoke.

royalexile I had to laugh when stuck in that traffic. On the way in there was a WBA number plate with a top price pcunter driving it. 'Oy you fcuking plum' was shouted when he tried cutting us up. On the way back he was travelling in the middle lane with us in the outer lane. Window down and a VERY broad grin on my face as we passed him by.

We were in the M6 traffic and got chatting to some (surprisingly) jovial Palace fans!! They told us to stuff Villa in the next round!

I work in West Brom - in a building no more than 500 yards from the Hawthorns.

Worn a couple of my array of club ties and cufflinks since Wednesday night. The natives are not happy.

Challisman Back in my pub in Worcester, would have been quicker if it wasn't for the bloody roadworks on the M5, it's going to be a long trip back for some fans.

Being from Bedfordshire meant I was intending to use the M6 motorway to get home. However, it was announced at the Hawthorns that the M6 was down to one lane and the "official advice from the Highways Agency" was to use the M5 and then the M42. I went this way only to find the M5 down to one lane and then the junction I needed on the M40 was closed due to roadworks so in the end I found myself travelling along foggy trunk roads via Buckingham and Milton Keynes and got home at 0140. I left West Brom at 2315.

Aston Villa were also playing their FA Cup replay against Crystal Palace that evening and they had 31,000 people. Added to the 14,000 at the Hawthorns, this would have meant that 45,000 people would be trying to get home. You'd have thought the Highways Agency would have made an allowance for this and whilst they may not have been able to stop the roadworks, they surely could have made sure at least 2 lanes were open on at least one of the motorways.

we live in a borough where perfectly serviceable roundabouts are being replaced with expensive high maintenance hindering traffic lights........and you complain about a trip back from the midlands?

Wonder if our useless bunch of Stewards will make the baggies welcome next month?
