either of the last 2 games in the 05/06 season... watching us win got a bit boring
The only real highlights of those games were getting a penalty against Stoke, everyone calling for Murty to take it, only to realise that he wasn't even on the bench, and Murty finally scoring a penalty against QPR and taking out kingsley... 2 very dull, uninteresting and very predicable matches... and i was late to my own party because of the bloody pitch invasion after the QPR game  honeslty, who was really that interested in winning the championship with record points and becoming a premiership team!

I think the Walsall FA Cup game at the Bescot was the worst, closely followed by the replay. After the replay though the one Walsall supporters coach stormed down the hill outside the South Stand and nearly took a load of people out along the way! The bus promptly stopped and the Reading fans began taking it apart!! The one highlight on a very drab night!

The Sheff Wed game in between wasn't much better. How I crave that sort of tedium now though!

I vaguely remember that. Didn't a Police officer come running past them as they'd left sooner than they should have?

Dirk Gently Walsall, FA Cup away and replay at home.

End of thread!

Yep. Can't believe I made it to the end of the replay. It was, if I may say so Dirk, like listening to Vogon poetry.

Pitch invasion was afer the derby game

I don;t recall a pitch invasion after the QPR game. We were late leaving as they presented the trophy after that game and the players did a lap of honour

QPR 0 Reading 0 Away 08/09
Reading 0 Portsmouth 0 03/04 (???) It was when Merse and Hislop still played for them.

Gandalf Presley 1988/89 : a 0-0 draw against Chesterfield on a cold Saturday in November. Rancid

Seconded. Not a single shot on target by either team in the whole 90 minutes. The highlight being Gary Phillips fumbling a tame backpass for a corner. The worst game ever.

AWS against Leyton Orient was pretty bad as home games go. Less than 1500 there at the Mad Stad IIRC :|

A 2-0 home loss to Wigan on a freezing cold, wet Wednesday night in 98/99. I think it was the first game we lost at the Mad Stad. I'm not even sure the Wigan fans celebrated their goals, it was so bad.

Reading 1-0 Luton, Carling Cup game in 05/06 season. Lost count how many times Eric Obinna got offside, and the only goal came from a fluke John Oster free kick. Either that or the previously mentioned 0-0 borefest against Plymouth. Think Sonko played up front during the match.

floyd__streete Reading 0-0 Welling United, December 1989. First time I ever sat in the (Norfolk Road) stand at EP. All I can recall is being bored, cold and momentarily amused by the linesman slipping over in the mud.

The sheer genius of this tie was that it actually happened twice.

If you thought the original 0-0 was bad, they just repeated the dose 10 days later in a 2nd replay. 4 matches and 420 minutes of utter piss.

It was like Walsall, double it, but against non league opposition.

Reading 0 - 3 Wimbledon 26 December 2003.

Worst game I have ever seen. Losing to a team who hadn't won away all season, and were Division Two (League One) bound.

I seem to remember McAnuff having 3 shots in a row, he smashed it once, rebounded off Ingi back to him, then again, then the third time he just drilled it in. Sums it up lol.
Pathetic afternoon.

Remember the whole of the East Stand (me in included I do concede) singing to Coppell, "you're not fit to wear the hoops".

Oh how stupid we all were/still are.

two come to mind my first ever v Shrewsbury about 66/67 season we lost 4-3 as I remember then in 81/82 v wallsall cold freezing night half way through 2nd half said to my grandad lets get the oxford out of here then over to the Spread Eagle before the 17 bus to Tilehurst. Best were Arsenal 71/72 in the FA Cup and Man Utd in Watney Cup early 70's and flew over for lat game of Championship season before promotion had to buy corporate tiks to QPR what a feeling seeing the team I've supported for now the last 44 years get promoted as champs, other good games involved the one and only Robin Friday :) what a player

Gets my vote too - same dull game twice in a row - with extra time for extra punishment.
