Wycombe Royal
He plays great sideways passes, he can point alot (the Sheffield United programme actually printed an article on his pointing), he can't tackle, can't jump, and doesn't pose much of an attacking threat.

All that can be yours for £20k per week in wages.

and

That is correct he finally made the "brave" decision to drop him about 2 months before his tenure in charge of us ended. So that was nearly two years of very average football from Mr Harper following the departure of Sidwell......

It was the " all that can be yours for 20k a week", which was the baffling bit. As for your comments they were genuinely negative, he was no worse than most of the team last season and the end of the season before.

My views on Zurab are not naive at all, yes the club will want to negotiate a price for Zurab, however Blackburn are not stupid and won't fall for media mind games regarding the price. How do you know they originally didn't want 1.5 million and now have the bare minimum at 1 million after initial negotiations? You have no way of knowing whats going on behind the scenes. They would probably rather keep him or sell him to someone else ( forest) than continue to undercut his value, lets face it...if mills is a 2 million pound player, you are saying zurab isn't worth half that?

What I am suggesting is even if Blackburn won't budge from 1 million we should still be getting him in for that price. We are not peterborough or scunthorpe, we should have a decent budget for players with crowds of 17,500 last season. Even if its our entire budget Zurab was a class apart when he was on loan it wouldn't be wasted at all. I doubt there is better than him out there so if we go into next season with Ivar at first choice centre back it'll be a disaster given his performances last season.

Why is that baffling, that is what he is rumoured to have been on Sheffield United.

FiNeRaIn As for your comments they were genuinely negative, he was no worse than most of the team last season and the end of the season before.

I wasn't commenting on the rest of them team - it was a topic about Harper so why would I have mentioned any other player?

These comments from you just me laugh every time I read them:

FiNeRaIn I want the player signed...I don't care how we do it.

FiNeRaIn we absolutely 100% have to sign zurab, no excuses from the board

Basically you are saying he must be signed WHATEVER the cost and you don't think that is naive? The club will know what they want to pay him, taking in to account the signing on fee, length of contract, wage, etc. It isn't just a simple case of here's £1m thank you very much. The player has to paid for the next x number of years as well.

But hey, let's just sign him up regardless of the cost to the club. To hell with budgets, to hell owth other transfer targets, WE MUST SIGN UP.

I can't be be arsed to formulate a well quoted post like yours. You don't know what Harper was on at Sheff UTD..just because you heard a rumour doesn't make a true. Add to the fact he's now been released, you seriously think he's gonna ask for 20k? Righteo.

We MUST sign Zurab, quality centre back, prem experience, solid loanee who excelled himself- 1 million should be well within budget, no excuses. Get him in for the promotion push. I am aiming for top two this seaosn, none of this play-off nonsense as we always lose in them.

In the same way that WR can't really know what Harper was on, or indeed you know what he will ask for at a new club - you cannot say what our budget is.

The only "fact" we have to go on is that the club have said that they are currently being priced out of the market with a six figure sum - that's all.

It was a "tongue in cheek" comment based on a rumour - surely even you can see that? But it appears that it is the only thing you have to argue against me with........

Did I ever say it was a fact?

There you go again, more naive comments. Why MUST we sign him? Surely most other clubs in this division MUST sign him as well then......are there going to be no excuses from them either......(and yes that is sarcasm)

As for it being well within budget - do you know what the budget is? All e have heard is the the club are "rumoured" to need to make £4m of cost savings. So how does that fit in to your idea of the budget?

Wycombe Royal Here's my verdict on Harper. He played his best football when Sidwell was alongside him and since Sidwell left it appeared that half of Harper had left too.

He plays great sideways passes, he can point alot (the Sheffield United programme actually printed an article on his pointing), he can't tackle, can't jump, and doesn't pose much of an attacking threat.

Amen to that.

That is the first accurate comment you have posted on this thread.......it's just a shame it took so long to get to it.

'ambition' must be the most misused word on HNA

It's a word used by fans when they think that there is an endless pot of someone else's money that should be thrown around on players wages and transfer fees.

If you want 'ambition' could I provide you with the contact details for, say, Leeds Utd, Pompey, Hull, West Ham or any one of a number of clubs who have shown more 'ambition' than us in recent times.

Why should we finish above Forest? They finished 6 places higher than us in 09/10.

I always love the I don't see you digging into your own pockets to help argument against anyone having the temerity to suggest that RFC push the boat out a little bit and sign some proven quality, as if FineRain somehow has the money to invest in the club but chooses not to. The argument that we cannot possibly afford his wages is somewhat bogus as well - what were we paying him since January, magic beans?

If we sign Zurab I will personally cook him his favourite Georgian dish (Chakapuli) and provide him with a bottle of Chacha (Georgian Vodka).

Good post floyd.

I think we have a better team than forest, did well to get to the playoffs with a fairly poor side, shows how weak the championship was last season bar the top two. We dominated them most of the second half at their place and their one man team of a keeper kept them in it, he went missing in the play-offs and they got pumped in their own ground by blackpool.
