Forster was class, but Doyle, Kits, Cureton and even Lita have all been better than Alfie.
You were doing alright until you mentioned Lita...
Maybe, but I think his overall work rate was better than Alfie's.

mooIan Royal Err. Kitson and Doyle were both better than Forster. As was Long for half a season. And totally different player to ALF.
Forster is in the top 10 2nd tier strikers of all time mate.

surrounded by saints if it,s true that ALF has gone ,then it,s the latest episode in the shambles that Reading f. c. is becoming......and still no word of any of this on the club website. I understand ALF might not be everyones favourite, but I honestly can,t see who we have that can take his place. I wonder what Adkins makes of what,s happening....or maybe he,s past caring.

maffff I'm still mixed on this. A shame to see him go as he didn't realise his full potential with us, although we criticise his all round play sometimes in the box he was the guy to pick a pass no one else would see. And some of his link up play with Pog was fantastic at times. And Januaries he was amazing.
But ultimately he needed to get the supply rather than be a playmaker and creative outlet. Which in the way we've been set up seems to be a bit of a luxury.
Whilst the fee may be low, there seems to be the urgent need to necessitate a sale. I'd be surprised if it weren't for him playing under his hero (Ole...), and probably player closest to his style in the history of the Prem, whether he would have been willing to move so quickly or to a team in the same league.
As his brother said to me on twitter if you look at fee paid, service given and fee recieved we've gotten more out of it than we put in. End of the day he's fulfilled his contractual obligations and been a player that has given us some pretty good goals and memories and off the pitch has been a player that has upheld the sort of family values that we've tended to promote. A nice guy, confident in his ability and obviously looking out for a good deal for himself and his family.
Oh well, good luck to him.

Libertine If he is off I am not too upset by this. Because;
A) It is fairly obvious (at least to me) he doesn't want to be here anymore
B) He doesn't fit into NA's plans/style of play
C) His sale will give us a shot of income we desperately need right now

maffff So when ALF leaves officially we'll have (subject to Reading FC classification) 6 "attackers" on the books as professionals
Pavel Pogrebnyak, Hal Robson-Kanu, Nick Blackman, Dominic Samuel*, Liam Kelly*, Craig Tanner* (u21 eligible)
Beyond that we have multiple scholars;
Bogdan Vaštšuk (only scholar attacker only eligible for the u21s) and Andrija Novakovich, Harry Cardwell, Daniel Williams, Josh Barrett and Hakeem Odoffin all in the u18s.
No doubt we'll soundbite those 6, and 'emerging talents' in Cardwell and our new singing Novakovich (possibly Vaštšuk too).
We'll probably find them telling us we have strength and depth from the eight/nine different attacking options, many of which are international players at this rate.
