Just been having a lol reading the thread about Royston on owlstalk. They really think they're onto something.

Although, tbf, they were right to point up the last winger we sent to them did well. Still haunting us in fact.

tbf, they're pretty much saying what we all said when we signed him.

I would say there is less caution on there than we showed, particularly as you can chalk down another club he has failed at since then.

Thing is, it will take him a couple of months to get fit - if he's on fire come January and we're in a good position (financially and league position wise) then its a bonus for us and could end up being important for the final few months.

Basically we're just letting Sheff Wed get him fit, pay his wages and give him game time before we get the best out of him

Are they paying his wages? If they are I would think it would be only a small amount, 20 per cent at most perhaps.

Why would they take on paying all his wages while he is not match fit? That would be ridiculous.

Does it matter how much they're paying....its better than us paying 100% and not playing him

It is better yes, but you said SWFC were paying his wages. I doubt that they are.

There is no chance we are paying 100% of them, so yes, they are paying his wages

They may be paying a proportion of his wages would be a more accurate way of summarising it.

Hopefully we won't have to pay the appearance fees as he's not playing for us

S'alright, he probably won't be playing for them for long.

Ultimately rather unsatisfying. With a depleted squad, we could do with all the players we can get. Dissapointing as he was, he was no worse than some of our other wingers. The fact Wednesday have signed him on a short loan suggests he isn't that unfit or disruptive.

I still think its either an issue with performance fees/wages (clarified by Drenthe) or perhaps a fall out with Adkins (conjecture based on him being relegated to U21s). The rumour of gross misconduct doesn't seem to add up in light of this loan - who would want an expensive, drug abusing, training absentee who gets drunk before games and fights with team mates?

Roy Keane? Lets not forget killer Lee Hughes(?) got a club, amongst other wasters.

Here's a thought, maybe the reason he wasn't significantly publically disciplined was for plausible deniability so he's easier to offload.

Not saying it's the case. But those are both plausible reasons you've overlooked.

Only in the sense we haven't got shot of him for good.

Not useless shit ones

Yeah he was, he was utter rubbish.

The fact Wednesday have signed him on a short loan suggests he isn't that unfit or disruptive.

Disagree. How on earth would they know? One might even argue that it's only a short term loan because there are question marks over his pedigree.

Maguire Summary: I'm not really a fan

Spot on. Why would you, or any other intelligent person be a fan? Sadly the world of football is awash with talent which will never be fulfilled because its owners lack the grit and determination to apply their talent. Too many lazy overpaid barstewards.

Bravo sir. Getting any kind of donation towards his undoubtedly obscene wages is great work done by the club.

Exactly the same scenario as is with Murray which Steve Parish spelled out last night on the BBC...they want Murray to come to us to get fit, they have no intention of selling but getting a player back from a potential career ending injury in the Prem is not an option for them....The Drenthe deal is get rid....with no love involved

No, not at all - he wasn't in the squad not because he wasn't fit but because he's a complete bell-end .... so even if he's super fit come January he'll never wear the hoops again. You guys never coached a team obviously .... a rotten apple ... and all that ... and this one clearly is a very rotten one.
