Hound Interesting they are televising it with all the trialists there

Should know a lot more about who is about tomorrow

They will have to pixelate the trialista faces, they aren’t allowed to play in public games legally so will need to be totally anonymous.
Obviously Drinkwater won’t be pixelated as he’s anonymous in most game anyway.

Was that just a set up for the lame joke?

As we certainly did play trialists in friendlies last year that were open to the public

The whole ‘trialists’ thing is weird. Under what rule are the anonymous’ and only referred to as ‘Trialist 1’ etc. Just seems rather odd....

Hope there is commentary on the game tomorrow.

"And it is trialist 1, squares it to trialist 5, crosses in the box for trialist 4"

Hound Think DD would be pretty low risk, sounds like he has the hunger and improved as his fitness did. Prob want a 2 year contract mind you which would make him less appealing

Thought he was one of our better midfielders last season overall. Prob something like

Swift > Ince > DD > Laurent > Ejaria > Rino > TDB in terms of positive contribution

Seems strange to list TDB last given he was our third top scorer and third top assister. On that basis, you’d have said he’d had a fairly decent season but overall can’t disagree with you, was hard to grasp what he actually offered

Do think there could be a midfielder in there but needs to work on developing an identity (and working out his best position/role) first

Hey these trialists are wild, they will go off the rails and do all sorts of crazy things like attacking and possibly shooting.

He he plenty of attributes - pace, strength, good shot. Lost the ball too often and lacked awareness though

He just seemed to disappear from entire games. Thought he’d do better under Ince but then he got sidelined

Wrong player for the team at the time tbh. Wouldn’t be surprised to still see him become a decent champ player

(Note also I’d say from Laurent to TDB they were pretty interchangeable in that list )

We’ll end up putting all the trialists in the shop window and we’ll end up with the ones no one else wants.

I wonder at what point contract negotiations start with trialists and how long it will take to get the deals done? For example, if BOO the left back has impressed will we be in a position where we can sign him up straight away? Or will we have to jump through hoops for the EFL which could take several days/weeks to get the deal done?

Probably right. Obviously wasn’t an ideal environment here last season either

Would have Ejaria last, he slows down the play too much

Do you really think that other clubs are sitting around doing nothing and will watch a stream on a web service you have to sign up for and go, bloody hell - Connor Wickham, best get him signed tomorrow.

If the players are trialling with us, it is probably already a case that we are their best option.

Re signing them up, I would hope that we have been proactive and put proposed terms in front of the EFL so that if we want to sign, say BOO, then it is pretty straightforward at that point.

I'd say Drinkwater was the opposite of anonymous too. Highly noticeable.

The first part was more tongue in cheek tbh but your opinion about signing them up is appreciated.
