Looking back over his career, how many clubs not named Watford has he actually been a success at?

sandman "The team will perform better without Blackman"

Similar to how the ever so wise experts of hob nob proclaimed how we would "easily replace" our "average Championship goalkeeper" who left in the summer.

We scored twice today, so did we miss him?

Even if he didn't score he would have done a ball roll, maybe a step-over, negatively gestured to the fans and celebrated like he's Ibrahimovic, then he would have lost it.

We just don't have that quality entertainment anymore.

R.I.P Blackman

Ian Royal One player doesn't make a team (unless he's Gylfi) and there's plenty of reason to believe our team will function as well or better with someone other than Blackman playing. Even if no individual steps up or comes in to contribute as much individually in goal terms.

Simple fact is the last few games under McDermott he's played right wing and done virtually nothing. McCleary will do that job better in all likelihood. We still have options upfront who've shown promise, if not fully delivered yet.

Whilst Vydra hasn't set the world alight here you'd have to be clueless to think he's looked terrible. And he's got far better pedigree at this level than Blackman's 10 good games, Mostly from a position we're looking unlikely to use.

When you get Matej Vydra in what do you expect him to do? Clue: it's not to look average.

Anyone with a brain can see he hasn't looked average. He's looked high quality but short on form and confidence in an underperforming side not using him to his best.

Running about a lot: 10/10
Scoring goals: 1/10

Terrible form.
On course to be the worst piece of business in Reading history.

Thankfully there's more to a player's performance than just goals scored by them as an individual.

Came close three times today for Derby. Played wide in a front 3. Rated well.

Agree, those are the kind of pointless stats you could throw at the likes of Wayne Rooney.....and he's England captain and on 300grand a week, yet he's still held in high regard so he must be doing something right.

He's been put through several times in recent weeks and wasted chance after chance, even his goal today took a heavy deflection. You're kidding yourself if you think a player like Vydra, with a reputation at this level, who was brought in to score goals to get us promoted, with a hefty loan fee and hasn't produced has looked anything but average.

And calling him average is being kinder to him than a lot of people would be.

It was against a league two side, let's not big him up as someone we shouldn't have sold, just yet...

The £2.5m loan fee matches our transfer fee record. Vast majority of our stupid spends were when we were in the PL and had a modest budget to spend. Remember we had to sell a player to borrow Vydra, he wasn't bought from tv money.

For the £2.5m spent on the massive flop Fae, we still managed to recover some of that when we sold him on, we will get ZERO financial compensation when Vydra moves on. It will the highest ever difference between incoming/outcoming fees.
It's quite likely he's right up there as one of Reading's highest ever paid players, by wage, as well.

And he's on course for 4 league goals for the season (at a rate of 2 per half season). Absolutely dire.

If this was Hammond's doing he should tender his resignation.
If it was driven through by the Thais, then I fear for the financial security of this club.
