Fordham's made it sound like Brett Williams is coming in, instead of BWP which would be awful

they are probably rightly wary after Hunt's knee injury

Snowball Damn shame, but if the knee is that dodgy, then the club have done the correct thing.

Tough one for Plymouth, though. Other clubs might be wary too.

Wrong day from Plymouths point of view also being that todays the day when the go to court to ask if they can get the winding up order hearing moved to feb...

It's only the 12th January, plenty of time to get the striker we know we need. I don't believe the football club would see Brett Williams as the answer; my gut feeling is he and a.nother forward coming in and we get to see what the boy Williams is all about over the next several months. Minimal risk signing.

Disappointed about BWP, but it's clearly the right decision and I'm glad the football club took their time to make the right decision.

I think BWP may have a verbal agreement to sign in the Summer. Hammond clearly says medical issues "currently" and preventing the deal "at this time". Sounds like we haven't by any means lost interest in the guy

There is probably a lot of scar tissue inside the knee and the ligaments etc are probably not in great shape either which makes the chance of a recurring injury more likely. There is no point in signing someone who could potentially get injured and be laid off for a very long time or even have to retire. You wouldn't buy a car that you know has a problem with one of its major parts that you know if it did break would cost you a fortune to repair and lose lots of money.

If someone else doesn't sign him first!

With Hunt still being a 60-minute man, maybe they could play 45 minutes each? (could we pay them half-wages, though?)

Hunt's injury still worries me! We def need some sort of back up and I cant see Williams being it, however good he may be at Eastleigh!

Don't know why the don't offer him 'pay as you play' type contract where he won't get paid for long spells on the sidelines etc

May be they did and he said no?

Anyway this is a comment from Pasoti:
I know of at least one occassion where he wasn't able to train for the first 3 days of the week because of his knee problem.

So it sounds like there is an ongoing issue and we don't want a "Ledley King" on our books eating up a large chunk of our fairly small wage budget.

If he's confident in himself being fit, which most players would be after a successful spell like he's had at Plymouth

This failed transfer has cost us a chunk of time. I wonder if we stopped looking?

So who else might we be looking at?

Charlie Austin (very long shot)

Leon Best (Loan)

Craig Reid (Newport County)

Brett Williams (surely just a punt and not the new number 1-2 striker)

Any thoughts?

Not really bothered about BWP. And why are people so critical of us signing Williams, i personally know nothing about him, but wasnt Doyle unknown when we snapped him up for 75k? and what about Austin who we are linked with for a million, he was signed from Poole! Low risk signing. Hope he is not the only signing though.

The OS did not confirm the line up for reserves, or who scored the first goal, seems to me that would be Williams.

Oh well, not too fussed if we're not getting him.

You do have to chuckle at all the 'it's only a delay in the results' and comments about it's just waiting for Madejski to grab the limelight etc etc. Just goes to show how little people really know bar the odd individual, and I include Fordham in that.

The club only let people know what they want them to know...

There is certainly no point in us signing another potential crock, and especially one that might not be the ideal extra option for the squad (although I can see why McDermott might like the idea of his type player alongside Long).

On to the next one, lets just hope it's not just a non-league gamble signing.
