The new ‘Reading Way’

Who cares if it’s true or not…if it works

Like the ‘Pals Battalions’ of WW1

Yeah…I know

I have nothing against it. If it is going to be a tough year, having a squad of mates could be very important in keeping things positive.

Honestly suspect this signing has absolutely f all to do with the fact that Holmes knows him but obvs hap out to keep the narrative

Ince and Bowen talked a lot about getting tbe right characters in and changing the mentality, so suspect being able to get references for that from people within the club will influence things

Yeah, right personalities are massive. Definitely in favour of known quantities over random Name from x country.

James Earnshaw has listed the triallists
Josh Murphy is one of them but doesn’t he play wide?

Also Grant Ward, Sam Hutchinson, Conor Wickham, Julian Jeanvier, Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, Jodi Jones and Jacob Davenport.
Most have had little game over the past season or two

You beat me to it. I added a link on the preseason thread. Possibly a couple more trialists too.

Davenport was highly rated at one time and he’s still only 23. I think he was a youngster at Man City.

It’s not a great list. Maybe Ward can prove he is fully fit. If he can then he would be a decent signing.Murphy has the ability but really wasn’t rated at Cardiff with question marks over his attitude. We are also well stocked with wide players. Can he play ten?
I don’t think Jones is good enough. Wickham please no. Hutchinson will struggle to play in midfield these days.
Don’t know anything about the others apart from I have googled.

A couple of Swindon fans from my local in Wootton Bassett reckon BOO is a good left back but none of those players really inspire me. As you say Grant could be decent and Murphy has never fulfilled his potential. I can’t remember whether Jeanvier was ever rated at Brentford.

Sad to say that yes it is. We need better especially players that we will want in the starting line up.

Other than BOO think it’s cheap squad filler tbh

Luongo apparently knocking about as well

Luongo would be an ok option. Not great but given where we are an adequate signing.

Don't know much about most of them.

We've got such a limited budget, with way too much taken up by a small amount of overpaid dross, we've got so little left to bring in any quality in the number we require.

Our best hope are decent loan signings.

The frustration is that we brought in two keepers. Ok one is on loan but why then bring in another keeper who will be taking up a wage that we could have used to bring in Shackleton. It seems Millwall can pay more of his wages then we can.

You can say it much as you like, doesn’t nec mean it’s right

I’m actually more frustrated we used a loan on a keeper of lumleys standing. He may be fine but suspect there are similar level keepers around on a free. No issue at all with Bouzanis
