Elm Park Kid we're only going to increase in value if we achieve success under a sustainable financial model.

That's not entirely true, is it. We could 'increase in value' as a financial asset without a particularly sustainable model. Define 'sustainable' I guess. Wrexham FC is worth a lot more now than it was a few years ago, but is only 'sustainable' in its current form because a couple of A-listers are pumping money into the club.

Exactly. People will start to get bored once their objectives are achieved and the film crews won't hang around forever unless there's the prospect of a crash and burn story!

Sorry, that's just not true... Rob McElhenney isn't an A Lister.

Okay. I mean he writes, directs, produces and stars in the longest running sitcom in US TV history. But yeah.

Just a joke based on the fact he's not as famous world wide as Reynolds, Sangers.

People were calling them "Ryan's friend" and "Ryan and the other guy" when they first arrived at Wrexham.

Or when they reach their level and aren’t winning quite as much and Wrexham seem to be getting close to that at the moment. Though it’s probably only Parky that they tune in for anyway…. :?

WestYorksRoyal But isn't the OADT test now more robust than when AZ and Dai bought us?

It's still only going to focus on:

1) do they have the money
2) are they literal criminals

There's no magic vetting procedure for only letting competent people with good intentions take over.

And the vast majority of people interested in buying football clubs are dodgy as oxf*rd, and competent is hardly a word for them either.

As the US president is literally a criminal, where does the bar sit for an American investor?

It's like I'm drunk watching the end of some stupidly complex film; I can't quite figure out what the latest plot twist means, but I know it's not good...

For the TLDR inclined amongst you, there's some "conflict of interest," in that Platek or a company he's involved with lent loads of money to several EFL and PL clubs, and still has some kind of control / interest in them

I'm sure they'll do some gymnastics to say there's no conflict in the same way the PL came up with a bullshit reasoning that Newcastle are not owned by Saudi Arabia.

They will be acutely aware of the risk of us going bust on their watch if they block it.

I don't recall the FL having jurisdiction over Presidential elections.

He’s worked at a company, of which he’ll also become chairman soon, to a company that leant millions to several league clubs, in some cases secured against their stadiums.

That explains the statement and the "leak" of the bidder shortly after. Puts pressure on the EFL to approve

Be skeptical about the Guardian leak too. Football is it may just be a jealous exec at another club creating a fuss and sharing it with a journalist.

Maybe even a final play by Couhig?

Oh well, that was a fun 24 hours of hope that this was positive and actually going to be the one.

On to the next one, if there is another one.

This is Couhig trying to scupper the deal. It wouldn't be at the stage it is, if this was an actual problem,

Let's just hope this one goes through and we can move onwards and upwards. I am convinced Couhig is not the knight in shining armour he wants people to think he is, and would not be good for us if he was to become the owner.

Yep, Couhig likes the same Guardian journalist. I don’t think it’s a problem, but have got so used to sh!t happening nothing would surprise me. After the Couhig collapse in September I have become blasé about it all.

I am still not convinced this is the one; as you have said we're used to things falling apart last minute. Until he's on the pitch being interviewed by Smashie/Nicey and Dai's name's not on anything, I still probably won't accept it. Let's just hope he gets us on an even keel and into a position to start moving up again.

Good, so we’ll have somewhere to play then if they can’t agree terms over the SCL.
