Latest rumour doing the rounds is Brian had a meeting with AZ on Wednesday and he's been told a change is needed. Now discussing pay off and amicable separation while Brian continues in charge and we get the ball rolling looking for a replacement. Probably bollocks, but does tie in with Guthrie turning down a loan to Forest and hoping to win his place back here which is unlikely under BM. Waiting for him to go and start a fresh with new manager who plays the game on the floor?

I think we'll know more after Sunday. If we play well, regardless of result, then I think Brian should remain in charge for the "winable" fixtures that we have coming up.
If we capitulate on Sunday like we did in the 2nd half on Tuesday, then a change may be needed sooner rather than later.

Problem is the 'winnable' fixtures included Fulham (H) and QPR (A).

I've heard a shortlist of Martin Keown, Steve Coppell and Stuart Pearce has been drawn up as possible replacements.

So what exactly is the beef with Pearce? Is this another person Brian's in a strop with?

seems it may be contract related judging by what he has aid on the OS- in which case im very concerned

would seem massively off to keep someone out of the team as blackmail to sign the contact imo

He revealed that he had the opportunity to catch up with the owner this week, saying, "I went out with Anton on Wednesday night in a pub in London and so many people came up to us to talk about the game, they were saying it's the best game they've ever seen. It was good, he's been really, really supportive, he came down to the office straight after the game. The Chairman phoned me as well, saying how proud he was of the way we conducted ourselves and everything about it.

"Everyone talked about football after the game, we didn't talk about diving or anything else, everything that's good about football in this country. It's not a massive consolation because we were on the wrong end of it – but it was a great game. What's done is done and we’re looking forward to Sunday.

"He and I had a chat about the game and made a pact between the two of us that we'd stop talking about that game at 12 o'clock! After midnight, we didn't speak about it. He said the spirit in the side was fantastic and some of the football we played early on was as good as you've seen at the Madejski for many years.

McDertmott vote of confidence...

Brian McDermott consoled by Reading owner Anton Zingarevich

Reading manager Brian McDermott has revealed owner Anton Zingarevich took him out to console him after Tuesday's extraordinary 7-5 loss to Arsenal.

The Royals, who are yet to win in the Premier League, were 4-0 up in the Capital One Cup but eventually lost.

"I went out with the owner after, we had a chat and made a pact not to talk about it (the game) after midnight," McDermott told BBC South Today.

"So we talked about it up to then and then we stopped."

The defeat was a devasting blow to McDermott's beleagured side, but the Royals boss insists they can bounce back.

We concentrated on the positives :| and forgot about the second half and extra time :|

McDermott also says he has no concerns that he could lose his job following their poor start to the season and does not see this weekend's clash against fellow strugglers QPR as "defining".

"The owner said the spirit in the side was fantastic and that some of the football we played in that first half was some of the best we had seen," he said. "We concentrated on the positives and forgot about the second half and extra time. "It's done and we have to move on.

He added: "I never concern myself about my position I just do the best I can and that will never change. "I don't think this weekend is defining, the season is 30-odd games long.

says nowt about a vote of confidence, and seems to go against all the stuff you wrote a few posts ago about him knowing he was out, and that AZ was lining up replacements as we speak
