Hate to say it, but given the whole Guthrie fiasco it's very difficult to believe anything Bri says in the press.

melonhead says nowt about a vote of confidence, and seems to go against all the stuff you wrote a few posts ago about him knowing he was out, and that AZ was lining up replacements as we speak

When was the last time you saw an under pressure manager say "I think that's me done here"? You don't. You carry on as normal, you say you have the full support of the club and you go about your business. FWIW various rumours all have one thing in common, and that's that McD had a meeting with the club on Wednesday. Having been so bad for so long, I'd be very surprised if this was the first time he was told it wasn't good enough, and was more than likely a lot more serious - but we shall see. I'd have money on QPR stuffing us being BM's last game (sadly).

Nope.

It's obvious to everyone that something has gone on between those 2, and as for this 'injury' that Guthrie has apparently picked up... Well, tbh I think it's a bit of an insult to our intelligence (or lack of).

Plus McDermott has a track record of misleading the media.

Love the guy, but he tells more fibs than a 5 year old.

I agree that something happened there between Brian and Danny but clearly it stems from a few weeks back.

McDertmott vote of confidence...
Brian McDermott consoled by Reading owner Anton Zingarevich

Reading manager Brian McDermott has revealed owner Anton Zingarevich took him out to console him after Tuesday's extraordinary 7-5 loss to Arsenal.

The Royals, who are yet to win in the Premier League, were 4-0 up in the Capital One Cup but eventually lost.

"I went out with the owner after, we had a chat and made a pact not to talk about it (the game) after midnight," McDermott told BBC South Today.

"So we talked about it up to then and then we stopped."

The defeat was a devasting blow to McDermott's beleagured side, but the Royals boss insists they can bounce back.

We concentrated on the positives :| and forgot about the second half and extra time :|

McDermott also says he has no concerns that he could lose his job following their poor start to the season and does not see this weekend's clash against fellow strugglers QPR as "defining".

"The owner said the spirit in the side was fantastic and that some of the football we played in that first half was some of the best we had seen," he said. "We concentrated on the positives and forgot about the second half and extra time. "It's done and we have to move on.

He added: "I never concern myself about my position I just do the best I can and that will never change. "I don't think this weekend is defining, the season is 30-odd games long.

Having read and re-read this piece a number of times, can you point out where it says that Brian has had a vote of confidence please?

If the author of the piece were here, I'd ask him/her where in the direct quotes from Brian that are used does Brian say he has no concerns about losing his job? Saying he never concerns himself about his position IS NOT the same as saying he has no concerns.

Awful journalism, but sadly, all too common in this day and age.

What is a vote of confidence? It's usually a sign of support that is interpreted as a final warning. Brian's been given a show of support. Could mean anything.

The fact AZ said he will continue with our current ethos ect, would suggest he's not a trigger happy owner. The guy has an encyclopaedic knowledge of football (apparently), so you would think he has a bit nous about him than other owners.

Shocked!!!! So So Shocked.... I can't believe what Cr*p is spoken on this site. How long????? how long???? he should have the season.. at least... no check that that... even if we go down he should then be given the chance to get us back up!!! You lot are so so fickle!!! One minuet he is god the next you want his blood. shame... shame on you all......

If you think this is crap being at the bottom of the prem losing a spectacular game in the cup to a class (yer yer second string but still some class there) side then you should all try watching a mid week LDV trophy game in the rain with less than 1000 fans against Bradford and then head to a league 2 game that Saturday.

#remember where we came from to get here......

Divvy Latest rumour doing the rounds is Brian had a meeting with AZ on Wednesday and he's been told a change is needed. Now discussing pay off and amicable separation while Brian continues in charge and we get the ball rolling looking for a replacement. Probably bollocks, but does tie in with Guthrie turning down a loan to Forest and hoping to win his place back here which is unlikely under BM. Waiting for him to go and start a fresh with new manager who plays the game on the floor?

This is such a load of bollox. Shame on you for even putting it on here quite frankly.

If you're worried about your boss taking your job, would you go to the press to lie and misquote him?

My guess is that AZ has an ounce of sense & he will realise a change of manager will rip the heart out of the team & we will be nailed on for relegation.

Equally a poor defeat tomorrow might make him think that we are are already nailed on for relegation and he has nothing to lose.

I reckon a lot will depend on feedback coming from the dressing room. If the players are still firmly behind McDermott he stays for a while longer, if word of discontent comes out via some of the senior, respected players, then his days are really limited.

If we play with desire tomorrow & the players are fighting for it (as they have done all season TBF) then hopefully that clears up all of this nonsensical talk of losing the dressing room etc.

I have seen absolutely nothing to suggest the players aren't 100% behind him. Lets be honest - all things considered we have not had the rub of the green so far this season - little marginal things here & there haven't gone our way. We just need one little thing to turn for us - something like us scoring a pen or free kick with seconds left on the clock & I do believe we will kick on. We are so very very close.

It's the final countdown!

A win tomorrow or a great performance, only to be robbed by the officials, may be necessary for BM.

Down to 14 or 16/1 now as next prem manager out.

Still decent odds - he'll be gone after loss today and a draw max on Sat - interesting Norwich are picking up now, looks a much harder game.
