It's listed as an Application Hearing - anyone savvy in this area able to explain what that actually is? It sounds like a premlinary thing, i.e. applying for a further more in depth hearing - but I'm assuming it's something different?

Remember this piece of Couhig litigation? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57604421

It was settled out of court https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/ ... ig-7512397

AI Overview

Wycombe Wanderers owner Rob Couhig indicated that the club would consider suing Derby County for financial losses if the EFL's case against them resulted in Wycombe being relegated to League One, potentially costing them millions.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
The Context:
Wycombe Wanderers owner, Rob Couhig, suggested that his club would explore legal action against Derby County if the EFL's financial investigation against the Rams led to Wycombe being relegated to League One, potentially costing them millions.
The Potential Losses:
Couhig estimated that Wycombe could face losses of around £10-15 million if they were forced to play in League One instead of the Championship, due to Derby's financial issues.
The Reason for the Potential Lawsuit:
Couhig suggested that Wycombe would have an obligation to investigate suing Derby if it was the best thing for the club, given the potential financial losses.
EFL's Investigation:
The EFL was investigating Derby County for potential breaches of financial regulations, which could lead to penalties, including relegation.
Middlesbrough's Involvement:
Middlesbrough also had a similar claim against Derby, as they missed out on the play-offs to Derby by a point in 2019.
Potential Takeover Issues:
Legal action by Middlesbrough and Wycombe was reportedly blocking potential buyers from making formal offers to purchase Derby County.

Appears you can request a link to view at 10.30am tomorrow. From the website:

The hearing will be available to representatives of the media upon request. It will be organised and conducted using MS Teams (unless otherwise stated). Any media representative (or any other member of the public) wishing to witness the hearing will need to do so over the internet and provide an email address at which to be sent an appropriate link for access. Please contact comct.listing@justice.gov.uk.

I think this needs it's own matchday thread actually

Any intel on Justice Jacobs ?
Previous Royals related cases handled ?
Controversial decisions ?
What team do they support ?
Any relation to Joe Jacobs, our putative CEO under Couhig ?
Any Chinese connections possibly leaving them open to ‘persuasion’ as to the merits of the case ?

Quick Google - he’s an Arsenal fan and has grade 7 piano. Hope he remembers the league cup game…… no idea if the piano is relevant.

I do a lot of work in this particular court/area. There’s no real way of knowing what the application is for , but speculating (based on the noise from journalists about this hearing being pivotal to the sale )it seems possible that someone has applied for a form of order that will block/allow the sale.

That might be couhig seeking an order to prevent the disposal of any shares until the determination of his proceedings (which seems unlikely for a number of reasons), or it could be the club (via Renhe) seeking an order that Couhig be forced to release his charges and/or stop resisting the clubs attempts to release those charges.

Short of the club seeking to have Couhigs claim struck out (also possible), it’s hard to imagine what else would generate the noise we’ve seen from journalists.

Done these a few times, it is in effect a mini trial, which should get a judgement at the end of it

Looking forward to the next big let down, that no one saw coming, as this utter farce rumbles on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on forevermore.

Tim’s going to the “trial” to try and work out exactly what the hell is being heard today, no doubt his in depth take on things will probably be heard on his Weekend Kick Off programme at 6pm.

I Believe the piano is key to this whole situation being sorted. That’s only if the judge is upright and in tune with us fans. :D

Strange twist of fate is that today we're all supporting Dai Yongge. Biggest banter result would be if he wins and then pulls out of the Platek sale.

Does it really matter who wins?

Dai - Couhig blockers go away.
Couhig - Dai has to pay up/sell to Couhig. Couhig blocker goes away/a sale goes through and we're better off than with Dai.

Depends on Platek's plan for the academy. Couhig could be a disaster and dismantle the whole thing if he operates the way he did at Wycombe.

It may need to be downgraded to cat 2, but taking it out of the system altogether and replacing with a development squad like they have at Wycombe would be bad for the club imo.
