SCIAG
Rollerbob Dependent on how fixtures go from now until January, I'd make a decision on Drenthe.

If we pick up some decent results and are playing well, I'd have him back - Great player to have when you are playing well.
If we don't improve, or stay at the same level - I'd try to ship him out again.

To me, he's a total luxury player which we don't need at the moment - but if teams performances pick up, then he could be a threat.

Is he more of a luxury than Blackman or Robson-Kanu?

If we're going to use a winger who doesn't pull their weight defensively, it may as well be Royston.

Good point. I'd much rather have Royston in our starting lineup than HRK.

http://www.whoscored.com/Players/23170

Pass Completion of 81%

Played 90 minutes 3 out of the last 4 (75 minutes in the other) So i would say he's appraoaching some sort of fitness

Man of the Match against Charlton

Bring him back for Clarke to decide i say.

I know Adkins is getting a hiding on here but blooming nora.......stretching the truth somewhat to suggest Drenthe's horrendous lack of application is anything other than his own fault.

Don't want him back.

id imagine he'd want to take a look at all the players on the books
but if the wages mean he cannot play any part past this season, its less likely he'll bring back roy

P!ssed Off
Ian Royal What are Royston's stats like at Wednesday this season?

6(7) - 682 minutes, 1 goal, 0 assists, 1.5 key passes a game, 1.4 crosses a game.

Yay.

Absence appears to make the heart grow fonder. Not in my case. He flattered to deceive here. He appears to be flattering to deceive there. They're welcome to him.

For a player with a large amount of sub appearances I'm not sure why you would use key passes/crosses "per game" when the stats are available "per 90 minutes".

Drenthe
Key passes per 90 minutes = 2.5
Crosses per 90 minutes = 2.4

Reading player with most key passes per 90 minutes = 2.2
Reading player with most crosses per 90 minutes = 2.4

It's because those were the stats on a website.

He's a twat and he can oxf*rd off.

I suppose I must be in the minority that would have no problem seeing him return if Clarke thinks there's a place for him.

At the end of the day we've only heard these stories of him being unfit, lazy, disruptive etc and based on his track record it may well be true but that doesn't mean he can't change for the better.

He seems to have upped his game a bit at Wednesday, and with a new manager, he may have something to offer us for the rest of the season. I would imagine we're still covering the bulk of his wages so I'd be prepared to give him a chance, unless there's a extension clause in his contract which can be triggered with games played. That is of course, if he is also still prepared to play for us.

I'd much rather have Royston show 5 minutes of quality than Hal Robson-Kanu stealing a living.

Hope we get rid of this waster.

Rather we signed some proper championship players to get us out of this division. Rather than having someone that only shows up for 45 minutes every 5 games.

Totally agree, Hal must look good in training to get the amount of chances he's had

You've set your sights depressingly low. What's wrong with a good winger?

Former Royals midfielder involved in an altercation at a club in Madrid which saw police intervening

Former Reading FC and Real Madrid midfielder Royston Drenthe was reportedly injured in a nightclub brawl last week in Madrid.

Witnesses say the Dutchman and his friends were involved in a massive brawl with another group at Opium nightclub, with chairs and tables thrown between them.

Police had to intervene and the whole club was evacuated as a result of the incident.

Drenthe, who now plays for Turkish side Kayseri Erciyesspor, was involved in several incidents during his spell in Spain with Real Madrid and Hercules; one of which saw him punished after skipping six red lights in Alicante.

The 28-year-old made 23 appearances for Reading, scoring two goals, before switching to Turkey in January 2015.

I do wonder why getreading always seem to write articles on a lot of ex-Reading players. Especially if it tends to be negative news.

Just because he used to play for us, doesn't make it news.

That is very true, but it just seems like a waste of time and effort to me.

So there isn't anything to report on, don't report on anything.

I'm sure people can survive without news about Reading FC for a few weeks until there is actually something newsworthy to report on.

Not those who are paid to report, not matter how tenuous or crap it is as long as it keeps hits on their website.
