USA_Loyal_Royal Khunying Sasima said, "I am absolutely delighted to be entering into this partnership with Sir John, and working with a club with such a strong reputation.

"I and my fellow investors look forward to supporting Sir John and working toward a successful future together.

"We still have some formalities to complete and plenty of work ahead of us – but we are excited about what lies ahead."

Sir John will be hanging out of the back of her before pre season is over.

MmmMonsterMunch Not much reaction on here given that we actually have news for once...........but then I guess everyone is bored to fuking death of it all.

Not really much news, just confirming what we all knew anyway really. The fact that the club have released a st8ment though probably means they're very confident that we'll sail through the final couple of hurdles.

The 'reaction' will come when we actually hear what the Thais have in store for us.

I am not sure why but I feel more positive about this takeover now. My Thai friend at work says that the older lady is very well respected in his country.

I wonder if we will now lift the self imposed transfer ban. The money must have been paid across and all parties are saying that it's now just down to formalities (i.e. FL test).

Fair play to that bloke thousands of miles away.....

That club statement isn't even as useful as being ambiguous.

Extended-Phenotype
Wimb I don't think I'll ever understand your hatred for SJM RB :|

Regardless of his motives he's helped take the club to blah blah blah blah blahblah blah

Oh GOD we know. Shoot a funny look towards SJM and you get some chode reeling off the opening 12 chapters of John Madejski: My Boring Story.

Take it for granted from this point on that EVERYONE is well aware of Wot Jon Did when they make any sort of criticism. Save yourself the trouble of duplicating the same post for the million billionth time.

Perhaps you could direct a similar post towards RoyalBlue. Tvm.

And take it on board yourself.

Good chap.

multisync1830 SJM fulfills both these criteria. I suspect he will get to keep the apartment for a few years and perhaps a cut of the development which I strongly suspect will now occur to recoup the outlay

Which reminds me. I've seen no evidence that the Thais are buying the hotel and it would be a tad odd if it were part of the deal - the hotel doesn't belong to RFC, TSI had no interest in it and Vibrac had no charge on it - I also find it strange that the Thai bid falls short of the Phoenix bid by the amount that the Yanks offered for the hotel. Maybe the Phoenix "he turned down our wonderful bid just so he could keep the penthouse" actually translates as "we didn't want the club without the hotel and he wouldn't sell it". I suppose we may find out one day.

The hotel has been up for sale for many years as part of his disposal of assets. The Galapagos Island hotel just the same. The hotel would be part of the deal providing the money was right. TSI did have refusal on the hotel but didn't offer enough hence no sale. ( I also suspect AZ couldn't raise the funds to buy it in any case)

The main issue with the hotel sale is the apartment which he wants to keep. The hotel has been looked at by several interested parties over recent years and every time it falls down on this point. The demarcation of the footprint and services make it a very messy issue.

This always confuses me. We always said " are we nearly there yet?

Probably because we were so super bright it was bloody obvious we were NOT there yet as we hadn't stopped!

What is in this deal for the Thais though?

Ok Samrit loves football and runs a club in Thailand but over here virtually all clubs run at a loss even Prem clubs. Some of the Thais appear to be property developers and her ladyship is developing real estate in her homeland. Are they really interested in building a Mall like Phoenix and letting Samrit have his toy of a football club so they can develop the area?

Money laundering is the one and only reason. Something loss-making you can freely pour money into? Great. Given the difficulties getting money out of Thailand it's no surprise 4 people are interested (2 unnamed).

Why announce it now? The FL would rather that we announce the takeover in the hope that any 'skeletons' the investors may have come to the surface. Given that the FL probably can't find out a great deal about these people they've forced our hand to announce it and hand it to the press...

The whole last season's kit thing and the amateur press release from the consortium in the local rag a few days prior back this up. They've kept it quiet for 3 months prior, stated they wanted to keep it quiet until it was all wrapped up, so why announce it now?

I'm not up in money laundering so walk me through this.

I get money illegally or I don't declare money and pour it into a loss making business the other side of the world. What is in it for me?

As an aside Thailand has strict anti ML laws and a 78 year old respectable business woman is unlikely to be interested in this plus it's far to high profile.

It can only be for the land which will most likely be transformed around the stadium and Bearwood. Where the club fits in less obvious.

I think you've got to consider the more modern usage of money laundering which is pretty much synonymous with fraud or tax evasion. Rather than the traditional laundering of ill-gotten gains, I would speculate that football laundering would consist more of over declarations of losses in order to avoid tax bills.
