That Friday Feeling
RoyalBlue
For the hard of hearing and thinking.

You borrow money to fund buying/running a house or a business. So just a chance that you could borrow money to fund strengthening the squad i.e. signing a centre back.

And you pay back the loan how?

To be fair, I reckon if he wanted to he could - as I've said elsewhere he has other business ventures and when things pick up he'd probably have no difficulty paying loans back - but he doesn't want to - he wants to sit on what he's got and only invest in things that will turn a profit. He couldn't sell Reading when we were in the Premiership and there was no recession, he has no reason to think he will be able to sell in the near future - why pour money into a black hole.

The only reason would be if he decided not to act like a businessman and just spend his money because of a love for the club - in fairness to him he's never professed to be anything other than a businessman.

brendywendy sorry- who do you know of who is out there, waiting to pour his cash into the financial plughole that is RFC?
do you have so much cash you dont mind just giving it away with no hope of a return?
if so-chip in my son
you have my total backing

There's people out there who are prepared to pour money into far bigger financial plugholes than RFC as is being repeatedly shown.

The fact that they won't pour money into RFC might well have something to do with the incredible ego that is our Chairman - the only thing that at RFC that is of PL proportions!

And in terms of disposable income, I suspect I, along with many other supporters, already pour a greater percentage into RFC than the 'great' man himself.

so youd prefer someone to come in, with no real interest in the club, who just wants in on the football gravy train, who will at some point in the near or distant future want to leave taking all of his cash, and most of the profits with him leaving us in a worse position?

thats up to you, but tbf im happier with JM and running as a non loss making business

Big Foot The worst part of this news is that it means we're almost certainly going to keep Shane Long

Funniest post on this otherwise crap thread. good work!

Oh, btw, I think having Rasiak was good but not at the expense of rarely using him. But time will tell if this is a good or bad move.

If it was up to me I would sell some of the regular Hobnob posters to another club.

After all we have the best informed and most intelligent football experts amongst our posters. The likes of TB, Ideal, AP, Floyd, Royalee etc would be of such a great benefit to any club that could afford their collective abilities that a price of a million or two would seem only fair.

Perhaps then we could go out and buy a CB now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Given the standard of our current strikers I am amazed they let this happen, we now have 3 identical strikers, no plan B and essentially the only striker who did score gone.

Another piece of great work. Ambition for promotion

Regardless of the finances we now have imbalance both at the back and up front.
We have three strikers-all short and all play run around football,i.e none can combine with a fellow striker so that means we have no Plan B but just the system of playing one up hoping that midfielders will get forward to join him.
I have never been a great fan of Rasiak but the fact that he is over 6ft tall and can head a ball (not necessarily that brilliantly) it meant that we did have a planB.

For such a well run club we are ridiculously badly balanced in terms of players/positions.
Where is the planning?
Well run clubs have enough players for all positions.

Sir Dodger Royal Wasn't Razza second top scorer? Interesting that Reading now have a Plan A with midget strikers running about aimlessly and now have NO PLAN B. But course we are aiming for the Premiership according to the Madman!

What a joke club. Going no where. The Madman needs to get together with Oyston at Blackpool and resign as well.

What a clownnnnnnnnnn Real facts.

You do have a point. We really have no height up-front although Long and Hunt are decent jumpers..

Add to the departure list Jobi McAnuff by the end of august.Im not that bothered about Rasiak leaving in itself, its the precedent that is being set that is more worrying by simply not adding to areas that are needed. What is clear is that the pressure has increased on the likes of Church, Antonio and HRK to step up quickly and perform or we are left with a squad high on potential but lacking the punch to make any head way in the league. We appear to be moving into the model of a Crewe Alexandra - developing youth/home grown players and selling them on whilst subsisting on a manageable budget and financial setting. This model is not a 'failing' one far from it, but perhaps succeeds best in the lower tiers with clubs who dont have a huge fanbase/benefactor and we have been fortunate in developing as a club with JM so dont really fall in to the former category. As JM has built RFC up as a club he has raised expectations, sometimes from the fans and from his own soundbites. This clearly has repercussions about how RFC should keep developing, and why any prospective investment may have gone cold. Its a watershed time for Reading, but i cant help but think that it may stay that way for some time yet.

They are for their size.
It will be meat and drink if we play long-ball tomorrow as Morgan and Wilson will be able to stand there all day and just nod the ball away.

Bit harsh on AP. But there is no point transferring me. I left on a free at the end of the season or can't you read?

Kudos. Like Rasiak were you the highest paid fan at the club? Having recently signed for a substantial fee and signing on fee only to then be allowed to go for nothing less than a year later? Probably more evidence of this well run club to be fair. We would like to thank Terminal Boardom for his efforts and wish him all the best in the future.

It is a case of waiting to see what happens the next few days, gut fealing says that a CB will come in, although I am not holding my breath over that one ! it is well written that Madejski will not risk or is not prepared to invest anything into the team side of the business. My only regret is the bollox of "getting back into the Premiership" that he spouts at the start of each season, when it clearly wouldn't appear to be that way. We achieved the premiership on a shoestring, lucky maybe or good player scouting. Many clubs in the Championship are constantly linked with new faces at the moment, and not just the ones that are in serious money troubles, oh what joy it must be to support a side that is interested in getting into the golden challice league.

Bums on seats mate. He's hardly going to say "could be a tough year, be lucky to stay up" is he?

tbh anyone buying STs in the expectation of a premier league push at board level is a mug. If it happens it'll happen at Hogwood and on the pitch.

Love him or loathe him JM has never been anything but straight up about the financial position of the club and how he's prepared to fund it.

Maybe those that want more investment in the team should have declined the ST price reduction.
