Anyone else think Federici should have got closer to Keogh instead of making it easy for him to slot the ball past into the goal? Should have closed down the gap and made it more difficult for him, maybe even forcing him to try and take it round him.

Agreeing on Jem being MOTM, best i've seen him in the right back position.

Seeing their goal again last night on TV, I remarked to Mr Schards that I thought Feds should have done better. However, he sort of did us a favour, as once we were a goal down, we did buck our ideas up a bit more.

I wondered the same thing and then dismissed it as being overly harsh. I thought Fed did get quite close to him and spread himself well. It was just a very well placed and calm finish.

Feds was unlucky, he did better than the majority of keepers would have done in that situation and 9/10 he saves those and does nothing different

If there's blame to lay I'd put it on the awful clearance from central defence, which gave the ball away and broke the defensive line allowing them to get in behind us and go one on one.

Yeah that does seem to be his tactic in 1 on 1s, he never really dives at the player's feet, just makes himself big and hopes for the best.

I think you can only really throw your self at the feet if they're trying to go around you or you're trying to beat them to the ball. If they've got it under control you have to stay up as long as possible and be a wall.

Two things about the (poor) goal we conceded.

First it was an incredibly limp-wristed tiny-punt clearance (was that Gorkss?

Second, we made the same mistake as we did for another conceded goal (game?)
earlier this season where Pearce went towards the player even though Gorkss
was already going there, thus leaving Keogh to waltz through.

Gorkss (I think) remarked recently how they all were covering so well for each other
and when one made a mistake, a second defender was there to pick up.

That was a case of it NOT happening

Connolly let Keogh (his man) go and nobody came across to cover.

Similar in a sense to when Gorkss went to win the ball againt Southampton (when someone was already there), didn't get to the ball leaving a gap in behind and De Ridder or whoever it was strolled into it, cut inside and finished.

Yes the RB is at fault but the CB got sucked in unnecessarily like in the Saints game

That was the game. Similar CB error IMO

Wasn't Connolly struggling with an injury by then though, seem to recall he got an early knock before getting another later on in the half.
