Good performance that had me a little worried on occasion. I thought seemed like we dominated early on and then allowed them to ease back into the game without taking advantage of our good play. We then hit a couple of good goals (what a shot from Jobi, deserved to go in). They scored a thunderbolt and then again we struggled to get hold of things and they started to work back into the game causing us problems.

Second half was an efficient performance doing exactly what we needed to. Scored again, then just frustrated them and threatened on the break. Legs and Jem much improved. Jem had a very good game, but it does frustrate me something chronic the way he quite often plays his pass without enough care so it ends up being awkward for the recipient to deal with. And the way he'll panic under a high ball with no pressure on him and just try and lump it away when he's got time to be smarter than that.

That's a really minor gripe considering his performance, and more a case of what I think is keeping him from being definite Prem quality.

Wasn't overly impressed with the new kid upfront. He did ok, but could have made better decisions a couple of times. I'd rather see us trying to get the best out of ALF than developing someone else's youth team personally. But he came in and did a good job. I thought Hunt was excellent personally. Worked his arse off and linked quite a lot of play fairly well.

Kebe his usual frustrating self. First half looked deadly but couldn't quite put the end product togther. Second half faded a bit when I was hoping he'd put Crainey under pressure some more. Speaking of which, no idea how Crainey escaped without a card first half when Baptiste got one for a reasonable attempt at a challenge and a hint of the ball.

Great response to Tuesday.

Mr Angry I'm pretty sure that the incident you are thinking of was when the ball came out to Kebe who was 6 or 7 yards out, and who smashed it goalwards; it didn't hit the post - it smacked against Noel Hunt (who was close to the post) who was taken by surprise so had no chance to control or direct the ball, and as a result, it cannoned back into play.

I can imagine from the South Stand, especially at the pace the ball was moving, you could be mistaken for thinking that the ball hit the post.

Clearly this is what happened - must have been the angle I saw it from as you say!

Jamie

Most certainly.

Good performance and just what we needed after Tuesday. Dare I say Tuesday's defeat was just what we needed for a reality check?

Man Friday Great performance. Incredible work-rate. Noel Hunt wasn't at the races today though. Can't recall him winning a single header. Most unlike him. Probably needs a rest. Give Alfie a go.

 I would say Hunt has been one of our best players in the last few games.

So would I. Just not today. Perhaps one game too many (in a short space of time).

P.P.S. The ref falling over Pearce was proper lolz!

A funny series of events. Pearce screaming and gesticulating at Harte and Kebe for not putting corner in, collision and then the ref trying to not lose his whistle lost all control of his legs etc!

All you've demonstrated there is that you know how to quote someone out of context. Also, pay attention to the words 'at times'. Cheers.

Second half was not the greatest at times and I like to see good football. I stand by that. All the same, it was a very well executed game plan.

Didn't quote out of context. I just quoted.

After a couple of months of talking complete bollocks ......... You're back with a decent effort.

Agree with every point you make about the new kid, ALF, Kebe and even the quality of some of Jems passing.

Best post on this thread by far.....

Mind you, with that said, I do have to agree.

Kind regards,

ALF isn't playing because he's not good enough for our system. He doesn't hold up the ball, he doesn't beat players, and he doesn't win anything in the air.

I like him, he's a good poacher, but he simply doesn't suit the way we play and for that reason McD doesn't like starting with him.

This is no time for sentiment, Brian can't pick his team based on who we'd like to see given a chance, he needs to pick the best team he possibly can to win football games, and IMHO Afobe fully justified McD's selection. His all round game is clearly better than ALF's or Church's.

The shot you spoke of did happen, but it didn't hit the post - it was literally inches over though.

Jimmy shifted the ball outside Crainey and smashed it early from the edge of the area. Don't back down just because nobody else remembers it. It was a good effort and was before the block from Noel.

Yeah great win. Typing is tough.

Best RFC players were Karacan (and regular readers will know I'm not a big fan), Jobi (who I love), and Cummings (nmost improved player all season I reckon).

New kid played like he hadn't played in a while.

Today was actually a performance from which i thought we looked clinical with the chances we took in front of goal which is interesting considering no roberts upfront.

Think afobe will do ok as games go on. Would like to see Alfie be the impact sub however.

Solid performance against a team that lacked cutting edge, didnt feel we were troubled much, on to Upton Park for the 6 pointer!

Thought Cummings was brilliant second half today, a couple of very good interceptions and driving runs. Bit of a shakey 15mins at the end of the first half but fairly comfortable other than that. LuaLua's goal was incredible. Four points clear of third, imagine where we could be if we had a proper captain!
