moonwalklikebas WARNING: Tedious link!

My dads boss at works daughter works at Liverpool and I have been told Liverpool have tabled a bid of 2 million for him. Who knows whether or not this is true, Just what I have been told!

You are a few days late love'. My sources revealed this to me back on page 1!

This rumour seems to be gaining steam unfortunately, was front page on http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/ a few hours ago.

I think it is worth remembering that it was Brendon who made Pearce club captain at the tender age of 21...

akranes
3.5M for Pearce, minimum. POTS for a team that had the best defence, and won the league. He's only 23.

Normally, I would agree but the club has let his contract run down (discussions on-going since last summer according to the gaffer today) so i think that any fee at this point would be a bonus, remember he goes for free in june/july.... now just close your eyes and imagine Brendon beaming on being liverpool with his arm draped around his new signing "the irish/english nemanja vidic" ala the welsh xavi

Ah, missed that vital bit out, fair point.

What a horrible sight that will be... :(

yes but then imagine him being skinned by every forward who can break into a trot...

You're getting him mixed up with his Latvian colleague.

CBs only need pace if they are shit at defending (see Luiz at Chelsea).

Correct, but Ingimarsson had bugger all as well and Pearce has a pretty good brain on him for mostly being in the right place at the right time. Doubt he'll ever be good enough for a top 6 team, but he might be ok as a mid-table defender - which is where Liverpool are for the time being. He's certainly been our best centreback this season.

I think anyone making negative comments about pearces ability on here will find themselfs pretty alone.

He has been out best defender this year and last year. I cant believe he could be off, if he goes then i think that could be the beggining of the end for us. we need to be growing the cubs with solid young players like him. give him a new contract and the armband i think

Brian can. Nigel Gibbs too I expect. Maybe McAnuff, Hammond and Bibbo.

I guess you could look at it as, with him potentially leaving - they wouldn't want to base the defence around him or vice versa. Which doesn't really make much sense.

frozen out over contract negotiations mate, McDermott confirmed in interview.

Really farks me off that the cub are willing to risk our future in the prem at the same time as mugging off one of our oldest and loyalest players to save a few quid a week. shows how tin pot we really are at times.

exactly mate - perhaps Royal thinks its part of Mcdermotts cunning plan to not play your best player to lull other teams into a false sense of secutiry.

Plenty of possibles.

1) McDermott thinks Gorkss' experience is more important
2) McDermott thinks Gorkss and Pearce together are too slow.
3) Pearce has done something wrong.
4) Pearce is piss awful in training.
