Now on Tuttomercatoweb

Tp Mazembe defender Felix Stophira Sunzu will sign a contract with Reading, despite the overt interest of Arsenal. The player of Zambia in the past had already auditioned with Reading, but problems with the work permit the transfer had not materialized

FWIW this all screams Arsenal-bound to me.

I agree, it just sounds like agent talk.

Unless the arsenal link was to get him more money from us.

Who knows with Agents.

Twitter is saying he will go to Reading. Prob is his club wants too much money.

Seems to think that Arsenal didn't even contact the tram Stopzilla plays for. The Arsenal mention was just to get Reading to pay more.

New CB not much use without more quality brought into midfield to offer more protection. Even Vidic would have problems marshalling this side towards a clean sheet.

Can play DM.
Probably better than our current defenders anyhow. Worth the buy? Yes.

Exactly. If it improves on what we have, and he clearly would do, then it's a step in the right direction. I just pray for the day someone wakes the fcuk up and drops Leigertwood. Just seeing him in the eleven deflates me. Karacan and Sunzu in the centre of a 4 man midfield (if Guthrie has had it), or both as part of a 5 with Guthrie or Tabb (eek). Just shows how weak this team is. No offence to Tabby but he's average Championship at best.

How can you say stuff like that when you've never even seen him play? :|

Because cool names = class,

for example, Le Fondre.

Honestly though, I, and probably other people want players in. Ok this guy is unproven, but we know about him, we know what type of player he is and he's only 23.
Fair amount of praise in Africa, and a fair amount of awards also. If it fits with the Reading way of signing then, I think it's worth a go. My opinion is nothing but that of a supporters.

Not sure if posted before - Video on him.

Seems to have a good eye for a pass, and must be good if he can keep Drogba quiet...

Arsenal fans seem to think they've got his signature though.

To be fair if Arsenal fans decided who they would sign, they'd have been relegated multiple times.

Surely they would have signed Messi and Ronaldo?

Within financial reason....

Well, that would be new information. There's no way we could have possibly known about the AFCON before.

Stopilla Sunzu's move to Reading has been put in doubt after the centre-back was called up to Zambia's African Cup of Nations squad.

The 23-year-old, who has previously had trials at Madejski Stadium, was expected to fly to England in January for a trial.

However, the TP Mazembe man's international call-up means it is unlikely Royals will be able to have a good look at him during the coming window and will have to wait until later in the year.

Reading boss Brian McDermott told the Post: "Stoppy was here when he was a kid.

"It's a possibility that we might have a look at him for a week. He's a good lad."

Perhaps seen as backup for Marriappa and Gorkss in the Champ, assuming Morro and Pearce are on their way.
