blueroyals Why McDermott or Adkins even considered playing Taylor or Flapperici instead of McCarthy baffles me

You're a f*cking idiot.

Lol.

For the benefit of blueroyals:

McCarthy has been fit for 2 weeks. He was also fit at the start of the season when Feds was at fault for 4 goals in 3 games.

Reading look like a team that know they're relegated and will lose this game and are just going through the motions. Liverpool look like they think it's a training match and even with no urgency and playing in first gear, they're carving us open at will. McCarthy is the only player to come out of that half with any credit for us and he's had a very solid half. Guthrie's passing is all over the place. McAnuff, Kelly and Mariappa the only others I haven't noticed repeatedly giving the ball away cheaply, but they haven't exactly been positives. Karacan has only not been worse than Guthrie, because he hasn't had the ball enough to actually try many passes. Guthrie still shows signs of being a far better player, even when he's doing virtually everything wrong.

We have nothing in midfield and are either defending way too deep in incompetent numbers, or are losing it in attack and leaving Liverpool free to run 60 yards. We're marking the pitch not the players and Liverpool are causally passing round us. TBH Liverpool look pretty shit, but they are utterly superior to us.

Adkins must realise 4-4-2 is just not viable for us. We need a midfielder on for a striker. Maybe, just maybe, we can sneak a draw.

What exactly have they done wrong apart from turn up and sing? Maybe that's our problem, we think it's naughty.

Poor crossing, poor passing, runs into trouble. He's been ok in space, but he's produced nothing for note whatsoever. McAnuff's been a bigger threat, marginally. Kelly put the best ball in by a mile.

Agreed with the theory, need more in the gaping hole in front of Morrison and Mariappa, behind Guthrie and Karacan, however i'd rather see Leigertwood on whilst we're still in it.

For all of Harte's defensive frailties, we're really missing his set pieces.

That has been another element of our demise for sure. The amount of set pieces we've not scored from this season must be the highest for a long while.

Did I just see that right, it was 4v4 in Liverpool's box and McAnuff is walking back to the halfway line?
