This debate is all very interesting in an academic kind of way, but it will have zero influence on the subject under discussion. I wonder how many of us would simply like the team we support to entertain us with some good football, although I realise that notions of what that is will vary a lot, and hopefully to be successful in league position and gaining promotion. Just basic supporter's goals.
