They're 7 points behind our pace at present (we had 62 after 25)

I have no doubt they will win the league at a canter but I don't think they'll break the record, largely because the time to make up those 7 points is in the last 10 games or so when like us they will hit relax mode

Didn't we also drop our pace near the end of the season too? Picked up a few more draws.

We were confirmed as having been promoted at Leicester, so had 6 games left; in those 6 games, we won 4 and drew 2, scoring 17 and conceding 6. I didn't think we relaxed too much after confirming promotion tbh......

The Leicester game and the 2 that preceded it (home games v Wolves and Watford iirc) were all draws, so the last 9 games had a record of W4, D5.

Boro obviously the only serious threat to the record, but 52 pts from 21 games = 2.47 pts a game. Over a season that's 114 pts.

Possible, but very, very unlikely. Still going to enjoy the annual sweat though!

When we confirmed promotion was a bit academic seeing as we were miles ahead of third, we knew we were home for ages, in the seven games up to and including Leicester we got 2 wins, 4 draws and a loss, in the previous 7 we got 5 wins, 2 draws. Results definitely dropped off in the latter stages of the season.

strap
genome Concerned by Boro.

Yep, they are still going strong, played 25 with 55 points, (w17 d4 l4).

21 games left with 63 points still available. Will need them to drop 13 points in 21 games to keep our record.

16 wins 3 draws 2 defeats would see them finish on 106.
15 wins 5 draws 1 defeat equates to
15 wins 4 draws 2 defeats equates to 104.

Maintaining their current form from 1st 25 games gives

14 wins 4 draws 3 defeats (-ish) for 101, or more optimistically
15 wins 3 draws 3 defeats for 103.

Could be tight.

Dropped 3 today

So only need them to drop 10 in 20 now

Northampton  On the pitch walking the division, off the pitch aren't (or weren't) they facing a winding up order or something?

They're not quite running away with it, not yet at least, only 2pts ahead of 2nd place Plymouth but of course that could extend to 8pts but only if they win both games in hand. Adding to that they can only drop 8pts, 9 to level us. To win a minimum of 15 of 19 games remaining is a big ask, especially when it will be easy to let form drop off if promotion is secured.

It's kind of a shame we're playing in the cup, not against Boro, they've hit a bit of a downturn in form, 2pts out of the last 12pts available.

Whilst we can only dream of such form in the league.
