Of course, what happened in our game against Boro earlier in the season is completely irrelevant but what McDermott managed to do years before still counts!

Well maybe we should also remember how he completely lost the plot when we were in the PL (wasting whatever money he was given in the transfer window on the likes of Akpan). And maybe his lack of success at Leeds wasn't completely down to the lunatic chairman either.

Why such incredible levels of hatred for B-Mac? Has he smashed your mum's back doors in or summat?

I don't hate him (yet). I just believe - like many- that he was completely the wrong appointment and he has done absolutely nothing whatsoever to suggest the contrary. His failure to really improve anything is quite remarkable - virtually every new manager has that honeymoon period and a decent manager/coach should definitely have been able to get more out of this squad.

And can anyone explain how he has been working towards next season since promotion and relegation were both effectively ruled out of the equation? Why persevere with players who are extremely unlikely to be with us next season?

Entirely valid

It's only from Royal Blue, Winston. Don't worry.

95% of our support love McDermott.

I surely get a whoosh for that one? 95% support him in his role now

I refer to my previous answer - I don't hate him and I suspect very few do. He's a nice man but IMO completely the wrong man for the job this time around.

I don't hate him I just spout personal abuse at him and dismiss his professional ability.

I don't venture on to the Team Board often because the place seems to be full of absolute helms. You, being a classic example along with the tiresome Dave-Royal.

Time will be the judge. The jury's out on some of the squad at the moment not the manager. Simply not good enough. Too fragile and lacking self motivation.

I don't really remember any new manager for Reading having a particularly amazing honeymoon period. Brian's opening months as manager has been as good as anybody.

Only Quinny and Gooding had a great first 6 months but we were already on to a good thing

I think the most important thing for the team now is a settled period of stability. McDermott might not be the flashiest manager out there, more of a steady plodder, but i think 2 or 3 years of steady plodding might be a good thing. We finished 19th last year, 10th - 15th will be good enough to count as progress this year for me with a view to 8th-12th next. Reset button was hit when Clarke was sacked, slow rebuild from the bottom of the accounts works for me.

unfortunately it's easier and more cost effective to blame one person, the manager !

That's the last we'll see of Danny Williams for a while I'd imagine.
