tidus_mi2 Still, based on that article, the cheapest price is still £10 and we charged £15 knowing that Fleetwood wasn't a remotely attractive draw at all.

Maybe some business dude drew up a profit/loss graph and deduced £15 was the optimal price but it seems like a poor decision.

Unless you get a plum draw then these fixtures are massive loss makers for most clubs especially when gate receipts have to be split with the opposition & FA. I would happily have paid £10 to go Saturday but understand why the club chose to price it the way they did.

Not sure if this is still applicable but another weird thing with this competition I heard a couple of years back is the hosts have to pick up the hotel bill for any visiting clubs so that could well be another added expense the club they didn't need.

The £75000 winners prize better make the club be respectful take it seriously, win and you get a chance to double it in the 3rd round. And if it does get on the telly there’s more bunce for both sides.

100%, i believe this will be one of the live games as they tend to feature the big teams plus the lowest ranked teams and Harborough fall into that category for sure.....so a good chance of progression plus if its on TV then even more money.
If we win there is the chance of a decent home draw or even another gimme game!!
If the reports of a cash flow issue to hit later this month then we really do need to take these games seriously. A home draw (if we win) against Premier opposition could generate enough funds to get us through a few more months :D

Only if we drew big 6 or Villa, Newcastle.

A home draw V say Brentford, Bournemouth or Leicester, which also would not benefit from extra TV money, wouldn't pull in much more than 15k in R3.

considering the gate receipts are split would it not be better for an away draw against one of the big boys.

Fair enough. Shame we don't get the TV money (unless we get some for international coverage?) and I'm sure Harborough could have done with that too, but hopefully a bit more interest in this than Fleetwood and a bigger crowd if it's not on TV.
I'm happy it's been moved as couldn't make Saturday and quite fancy this one.

The sting in the tail with this is apparently the Cambridge league game will still take place on the Tuesday so 48 hours later.

That means we will play a similar side to Cheltenham in the cup.

That's crap. Neither team plays until 3pm Saturday the next weekend so no reason why the Cambridge game couldn't be pushed back 24 hours

Will anyone in the useless local media get an answer to this, it’s ******* ridiculous. Have Cambridge the right to refuse the moving of the league fixture? If so why the **** are Reading agreeing to the move to the Sunday in the first place?

It’s also a non-sensical TV selection by the broadcasters.

Who on earth cares about Solihull vs Bromley, and how can then justify an 11.30am kick-off at Wealdstone!

Who on earth cares about Solihull vs Bromley, and how can then justify an 11.30am kick-off at Wealdstone!

The full list is:
  1. Fri 29 Nov - Harrogate v Gainsborough (19:45) - BBC Two
  2. Sat 30 Nov - Wealdstone v Wycombe (11:30) - ITV
  3. Sat 30 Nov - Wimbledon vs Dagenham (19:15) - ITVX
  4. Sun 1 Dec - Kettering vs Doncaster (12:00) - BBC Two
  5. Sun 1 Dec - Solihull vs Bromley (15:15) - ITV
Apparently broadcasters don't like selecting games where the stadium is largely empty, which is probably why we haven't been picked. Absolutely would've been had the tie been reversed.

Christ the whinging on social media over the scheduling of the game. We're playing Harborough Town, a team that we should be beating comfortably even with a weakened team out.
