Pepe the Horseman Loved seeing Smith run straight to him for the goal as well. Lol @ the "he's lost the dressing room already" "players are confused" bullshit that was going around after the first few games.

Thoughts with the poster who said we'd plummet down the table and be relegated, at this difficult time. Not been seen since.

Delighted that hunt has got this little run together

Tbf with our ridiculous lack of players he’s not really had the chance to change a lot and he hasn’t. The spirit still looks great though and he’s obviously a popular figure at the club

If we can survive January relatively unscathed (thoigh I fear for us without Bindon - much more than I did Abbey, Holmes or McIntyre) then who knows.

Judging by deans performance today I think we will be fine. Yiadom plays well at CB also. If he’s lost a yard of pace he could slot in there and we can keep Craig at RB. Yes it would be a big blow to lose a player if Bindon’s quality of course, but I actually don’t think it will make much of a difference. I think we’d be much more screwed if we lost any of wing smith or knibbs.

94/95 with McGhee leaving was before my time, but it doesn't sound dissimilar. Small, tight knit squad where everyone knows their role and there's not really any scope for the new manager to change things around. You just need someone who can keep morale up and let things tick along, with Hunt is capable of.

I'd be surprised if we stay in the top 6 until the end, but not shocked.

I’d absolutely expect us to stay in the top six now*. Who below us is better than us? I’d say no one

*Unless we have a points deduction or a fire sale in January

Half a dozen clubs below us are capable of putting a run together to make the POs, but whether any of them will is obviously uncertain.

Mansfield looked decent. Bolton and Charlton certainly have it in them, Orient are decent

Small steps, lets get to 50 points and then we can take a step back and put a plan together from there! I still think we may fall just short of the play-offs simply down to the size and lack of experience within this squad plus, the inevitable departures this month.

Saying that, this team always surprises me and i guess never say never :D

Yeh Dean and Mbengue should be more than good enough at this level.

As much as Bindon is the superior player, Mbengue's pace a physical commitment allows us to play a weaker, or slower CB and get away with it imo, so is probably more key to our ongoing success this season than Bindon.

But I'd LOVE to see Bindon playing for us in the Champ.

Respectfully disagree. I can see Mbengue and Dean/Yiadom/Kanu etc looks ok on paper

But I feel Mbengue is too erratic. I suspect Bindon’s excellent positioning and reading of the game are key to that partnership being so strong. I’m not sure one of the others covers for his deficiencies anywhere close to how Bindon does. Him and Kanu for example could be a bit disastrous atm

I think Bindon + Dean/Yiadom etc would work better as Bindon is reasonably quick plus so dominant in the air. Better on the ball than Mbengue as well (though Mbengue is decent at that as well)

Yesterday was a perfect game for Dean; give him 90 minutes fighting for headers and defending crosses and he is great at it. I'd be more concerned when we're chasing games or trying to force the issue ourselves. He's not on the same level as Bindon for playing out and building attacks, plus he's a yard slower. Bindon is not as quick as Mbengue, but he is not a slouch either and often bails out whoever is picked at LB.

I am really happy for Hunt. I don’t believe he’d have got the job under new ownership, but credit where it’s due.

I’d love us to be able to keep this team together and strengthen it but more wishful thinking. It’s difficult to know what our aspirations should be until we get to February so I am hoping the team can keep battling and picking up points.

I was told by a reliable mate that the potential new owners are providing funding, but the club will still listen to good offers for players, which is how it should be.

I think you're probably over stating it a bit, but agree Mbengue-Kanu would be a potential calamity currently. But then Kanu would still be 4th / 5th choice.

Dean's experience should work. Holzman's ok, and as others have said there's also Yiadom
