Alan Partridge Cox is 18 (maybe 19) Royalee, and by all accounts was playing in midfield. I don't see the need for having a go at one of our young players in a friendly :? But there we go.

Sadly I couldn't make the game yesterday but pleased to hear about Pearce. I saw him a couple of times for the reserves last year and he looked the part even then. He looks a quality defender.

For me so far pre season (Northampton apart) has been a bit disappoitning so far, too many injuries, not enough senior players playing and in a way showing the how fragile the squad is.

The positives from it though is the likes of Pearce, Hayes, Cox, Osano etc getting used to playing in a Reading first team.

I'm not trying to single out Cox, but someone earlier commented they thought he was the best player on the pitch and I just didn't rate him at all. I know he was out of position, but he's not impressed me up front either and he continually gives the ball away either through mispassing or giving fouls away and lacks a lot of quality (too much quality to acquire in too small a space of time IMO). Other than him though, I think all of the young lads did well and it was encouraging.

When else have you seen him? 2 minute cameo's in 4 games last season? I saw him quite a few times in the reserves last season and he looked a decent player and scored quite a few goals. You can't judge players on pre season, if we did then we may as well release half of our squad.

Gordons Cumming You lot of whingers are all t*ssers.
You're all going to look stupid when we're top at Xmas.

Funny how now he supposedly has more cash at his disposal he STILL can't attract the players, isn't it? The real tossers on this board are the RTGs such as yourself who can't take the fact that people do have negative views about the club, which are more often than not well justified. Top at Xmas? Someone's had a few too many sherrys.

 How many times am I going to admit that I was wrong there? I just don't rate Cox and I've seen him play a few times now. I think we have some good young players coming through though other than him.

bassavage How many Reading fans did you say there were? 1000-1500?

The official attendance was 5,160. That means there were only about 3500-4000 Swindon fans there. That's an embarrasment, especially against your closest PREMIERSHIP club.

Barney Billistic You are a joke Swindon. That's our biggest game of the season out of the way. Enjoy your trips to Barnet, Rochdale and Hartlepool.....

Just think lowlife....you'll NEVER play us in a league game again.

Can we cut the Big Time Charlie tosspottery please, Barney?

I heard there was trouble about 6ish in the pub opposite the station. Not the GW the other pub on the opposite corner. Can anyone confirm?

And this has what to do with the match, the team or football?

Didn't see any trouble, although there was a police helicopter overhead.

Bet it was the Swindon fans getting a bit over excited after their shock of not losing!!

My mate is bar manager of the GW and he said it kicked off with about 50 Swindon and about 8 to 10 Reading fans. Just wondering if anyone else saw any aggro?

Ah so thats why the stewards were running through the car park. We were sitting in the car and all of a sudden they went legging it over that way, couldnt be botherd to get out the car and see what was going on at the time though.

Just as we walked out the gate we saw a couple of chavs getting arrested, didnt see what had happend though. one guy had the arm of his sleeve ripped.

Having seen Simon Cox play a few times now I am pretty encouraged by what I have seen he seems a strong able centre forward and can only improve with more experience.

It will be interesting to see how he improves next year, even in the reserves he should get a good test against better opposition.

S'funny to hear the old anti Swindon rivalry come out of the woodwork, I just can't buy into it now. They have not been in the same league as us now for some years, they are no opposition for us now, and we have moved on except for those who are clinging onto history just for the sake of having a rival.

It feels just like hating Germans because of WW2, old fashioned and pointless.
