Never mind Holt, prat that he is.

What should happen on this board is that the long article in the News of the World I think it was, where this bloke with a funny sounding name slagged us off before the season started and tipped us to go down, should be posted as a sticky just to remind us of it.

And when the season ends everyone, and I mean everyone, on the board, should e-mail this bloke with a big f off, or words to that effect.

I don't think his e-mail address was with the article but I am sure it will emerge

Didn't he publish a later story apologising to all the Reading fans who had written to him pointing his rather inaccurate predictions? Or was that another quality journalist?

No, that was the bloke in the Observer who had the good grace to admit he was wrong.

This other geezer from the News of the World is the one people should be targetting their ire at IMHO.

It's difficult to imagine an article being so inaccurate.

I'd equate it to The Times of the day running an article with a headline saying: 'Mafeking not relieved.'

Alternatively: 'Rorke's Drift soldiers run off.'

I believe the journalist who apologised was with the Observer. Lawro and Hanson also held their hands up and said their writing off of us was down to their complete ignorance of us.

Journos have to write something and the aim is not accuracy but to sell papers. "Reading are a crap side with thug players" sells more papers than "Reading have talent and a reasonable disciplinary record". If you know little about football but want a big journalistic salary you become a Holt. See how we are all writing about him?

That bloke published his honest, if subsequently to be proven wrong, opinion. It was also an opinion shared by quite a few footballing experts including some on here!

Holt's opinion is also very clearly wrong but would anyone accuse him of being honest?!!!

As said at the time, I could stand a preview that was balanced, fair and well written with appropriate facts. Some of the people that tipped us to go down did manage to do that, and you cannot feel in any way aggreived with their articles.

What did annoy was poorly written and researched articles/comments that had no real basis in reality. And anyone who wrote 'the next Sunderland'.

I'm gonna behead those bastards.

Mark Twain once wrote that the best revenge was to live well.

Our best revenge is to finish comfortably in the top half. We don't need to get even, just look smug.

I believe it was actually George Herbert who wrote that in Jacula Prudentum. It's lucky you're not a Sports Journalist or I'd have to crucify you for your lack of research...

Back to Tw*t Holt....

No comparison can be drawn between him and journalists who predicted our success wrongly. So what?

What's so wrong in predicting we'd struggle. I thought we'd struggle, as did many on here. It wasn't really out of order or derogatory or unfair to suggest it at the time.

However Holt has repeatedly come up with utter nonsense, lies and very dangerous accusations. He is a grade A tw*t.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, either deal with it or don't read anything he says.

Pretty simple.

I think everyone's missing the point here! When Kingsley was flattened by Long it was, if we're honest, a viscious and totally unprovoked attack on a perfectly innocent lion. Having had time to think about it, and bearing in mind the death threats by the Chelsea intelligensia to Hunt, maybe Kingsley made a phone call to his Pride in Africa to sort out his attacker. Having stepped off the plane in London, they bought a quality English newspaper, and read that it was Hunt who savaged their brother.

Long must now be breathing a huge sigh of relief, but Hunt has, I understand, gone on a crash diet to make himself less attractive to the Kingsley family, and has stopped associating with zebra's and wildebeest. I've also noticed that he no longer leaves his poop on the streets!
